223 90 grain Sierra Match King bullet match report

I shot a 200-16x with them at 600 the first time I shot them in a match. Took them to Missouri and got second in their state match, 14 points above 3rd place. Gstaylorg finished first with the 90 Bergers 15 points ahead of me. It wasn't the bullets fault, they shot well. On day 1 Gary said he never held out of the 10 ring and mostly on the edge of the X. I was holding well into the 9 ring from side to side. I know it's not an apples to apples comparison because we don't know where our no wind zeros were etc. The Sierra's were easier to find a load for and were less finicky to seating depth.

That's the 90 SMKs (not the 80.5s)?

Who has the pointed Sierra in stock, last order was old school unpointed. They shot well enough to get more, but I would prefer the higher BC.

Any issues with the pointed variety not shooting as well.

Midway had the pointed version in stock months ago. They are now shipping the pointed 80s too.

Any idea how to tell which is which? I just ordered 500 from Bullets.com, but I think they are old school?????

They are probably not old school. I ordered some about five months ago and they were pointed. I can't imagine they would be selling non pointed after the pointed ones.

I took my 12yr old son to his first f/class match today, our club finally got the pits up and running thanks guys.Today was a get familiar type match teaching people about target pulling and scoring. He was shooting his 223 with the 90grsmk behind 25gr. of pp2000 and only being behind this gun for the second time he dropped 4pts. I was stoked and told him for now on he's on his own lol!!! It's great to be able to hang out and teach him some of the things I have learned and have him apply it to the target.I can say the 90gr. smk will shoot.

3 strings at 600?

That is VERY good and I'm sure you're a proud Papa. Problem now is, how much longer before he starts whipping you regularly :).
