Sierra .224 77 Grain TMK Discontinued?

Was wondering if anyone knows has Sierra discontinued their 77 grain TMK bullet? For quite some time everyone has listed them “out of stock/no back order”. My Rock River loves these bullets with Varget powder.

Sierra says their running three shifts a day now. I'm sure that there will be a run of them produced at some point.

The non tipped 77 works just as well or better in my experience. They seem to be available.

Its interesting that Sierra was able to get the BC of the new closed tip SMK 169 better than the TMK. If that holds you have to wonder the future of the TMK's.

I think that they are just overloaded and have to allocate machines/manpower. For instance I use the 85gr .243 bthp and same story. I spoke to them and they said machine is mothballed, for now.

this is what I was told by a Sierra rep. Mainly TMK's are on hold till they can get caught up on more common bullets. I need the 7mm 160gr TMK and was told it would probably be another 8 months+ before they are available.

I probably shoot more of these than any others in my 223 AR's. I use the load with them as a 77 SMK load (Varget or Re15) and have not been dissatisfied at least to 300 yards. They are usually easy to find and cheap in comparison to a Sierra.

I agree these have been very few and far in between.... but even recently they trickled a few out that were bought up quickly.

Depends how far you're shooting. Regular SMKs always seemed to group a little better to me. Past 750 yards, the TMK's BC starts to be nice though.
