But you know that's not going to stop guys from trying them in an 8"..The "problem" with trying them out, is there are NO 7.5 twist barrels around. They will have to be ordered, and that takes time..

I know... However, there is a possibility of getting decent accuracy. I ran the Berger Twist rate cal. with the dimensions of the bullet drawn from this thread. I used 2930 as the velocity figure at sea level. The calculator showed in the LOW 1.4's>>> Not good enough for me>>>but it may work at higher velocities and higher elevations in the mountains. BUT I would rather do a 7.5 if I were to do some serious testing..But you know that's not going to stop guys from trying them in an 8"..
I just had a thought 338.. Don't rush out to buy any too quickly. You will need a 7.5twist barrel and I don't believe there are any around. That will be an order deal from one of the barrel makers. Don't try it in an 8 twist, you may get less than desirable groups and it not be the fault of the bullet..
Thank You! That is the FIRST 7.5 /6.5mm barrel I have seen. It is a Heavy Palma, which is great for Sling Shooters, however, for F-Open, I like a straight tube 1.25... Thanks Again though!! But it does let me know that barrel makers are on to the L-O-N-G 6.5 pills!
The top one.I would love to see the results of your testing with it! What are you going to shoot it in?
What case is that based off of? It looks like a RIMMED case. Is it based on the 30-30 Win.? I know you say it's a 6.5BR Lapua, but I never heard of that>>>especially with a rimmed case? The top one.![]()
I was going to just call it the 6.5 Lapua because the name is not taken and it suites it, but Dave Kiff at PTG beleived it fit so many of the BenRest criteria he added the BR designation. It is based on Lapua 7.62x53r. It cannot be made from anyone else's brass. Hens the use of the Lapua name. What case is that based off of? It looks like a RIMMED case. Is it based on the 30-30 Win.? I don't know how I forgot this but we've been making 1.250" diameter straight blanks as well as heavy and Med. palma contour and M40 contour blanks in 1-7.5 twist for bullets.com/Grizzly.
Here is the link to the straight blanks and they are in stock.

Any details on rifle specs or caliber. Maybe chrono results or pics of targets?I ran some other the 150's today through a 1 in 8 twist with excellent results.
Drew, what cartridge?
You can't shoot those for ft/r!
Btw, I measured them at 1.494"
I was wondering how far the 150 SMK would stick down into the case of my 260 Remington as compared to the 142 SMK. I made the measurement and as it turns out the dimension is the same for both bullets. I have a standard 260 chamber so the 142 SMK sticks into the case past the neck but this has not seemed to me to have been a problem since I get good accuracy and velocity with the 142 SMK in this configuration. So I plan to load the 150 SMK with the same load as I have been shooting with the 142 SMK for 1000 yard competition and see how it does. I will start with accuracy and velocity testing at 100 yards and will have my 142 SMK data for comparison.
