More often though I seem to just carry my .25-06 Rem 700 CDL, with a simple 6x Leupold:

I'm game. Here's two of them.

Top one is based on a 40X short action. It's been my friend since I put it together in the late 60's. Then it was 222 Rem Mag. After that it was 22-250. Now it's 22-250 Ackley Improved with a Broughton 8 twist barrel. Shoots 77 gr Bergers quite well.

That old Fajen stock was something I cleaned up when a customer at Braverman Arms in Wilkensburg, Pa. rejected it because of a knot. Been my favorite reject for literally thousands of woodchucks and my only good day prairie dog hunting.

Below that is another 700 action in Sendaro form. Jim Peightel, Earnst Pa. re-throated the 25-06, chryo'd the barrel, tuned the action, mounted the Holland brake and I glassed over the bedding block.

When I lived in Pennsylvania, we called it "The Collector". Surely you can figure out why those home-made moly 115 Nosler Ballistic Tips were feared by groundhogs.

There's coyote hunter's, then there is this coyote hunter! :o, Rough estimate of ~ 250-260 pelts showing. Holy Cow!

Rifle1: That is a very nice rifle! I always like to see the older varmint rigs with Unertl scopes on them! Kinda makes me feel like I was born 30 yrs. too late.

Aaron, thanks for the kind words. That particular pic was taken in E. OR during a rat and chuck shoot. We also shoot the Klamath basin and N. CA for both chucks and rats. It appears you recognize good rat country! ;)

Here's another of my LR rigs, custom M700, Pac-Nor SS Super Match 11 twist 3-groove w/custom chamber in 204 Ruger Match, Jewell HVR, H-S Precision stock, Lupy 6.5-20X LR M1:

Thanks,Phil.

Phil, I had PN duplicate my original Remington Varmint barrel contour so no stock mods would be necessary on the H-S stock. It was a slight upcharge, but worth it to avoid dinking about with the stock barrel channel on the synthetic stock.....at least to me. HTH
