show off your Bat!

Beautiful rifle Jay. Do you use those Harrel's breaks on rifle's for competition much?

I'm building a 6.5X47 on a BAT action with a 30" Krieger HV barrel. I have a 1" Harrel break I am contemplating putting on. I have had excellent luck with them in the past on varmint and hunting rifles. One hunting rifle would shoot 3 shots with the 7mm 168gr Berger VLD's in the .1's with two different loads using a Harrel break. One group with 66 gr of RL-22 measured .186" and the other with 67gr of RL-22 measured .133". Both just one oblong hole. So as of now, I have a lot of confidence in Harrel's breaks.

But this will be my first true benchrest competition rifle and I've heard mixed thoughts on breaking a barrel for 1000 yard shooting. Record strings are 10 shots. Was thinking about giving it a try to help the rifle ride the bags smoother with less recoil and to help return to zero quicker so I can run my string faster. If it won't shoot with it, I was planning on having a cap made from a cut-off piece of the barrel after finishing it to length.

What do you guys think about Mr. Harrel's breaks for BR comp?

Well I can't really say enough about Bob Green, his attention to every detail and his ability to build an awesome shooting rifle... but once again he turned a pile of parts into a masterpiece!! Picked this one up yesterday and enjoyed a Cigar with him as well. Built on a Bat MB multiflat in .284 with a Brux 1/8.5 Put 10 rds thru her today to get her up and running! Its almost identical to my 6.5x47L that he also built..Once again Thanks Bob!

Thanks bigdmt
I modify the harrell brake when I use it and I like it that way.
The vais is the recommended brake and it works just as it was made.

Your a corker FroggyOne2, that's for sure ;) Even a fun thread like this needs some good clean humor.
Wayne.

I hope that my bat is the end of the line for this thread, or is it that all the bat owners of this forum and put up their bats?

How about the .50 BMG BAT? It's not mine, but they'll make you one (or call Bruno's, they're in stock).

In the lower picture, the .50 BMG action is above a normal benchrest BAT and the two cases, added for scale, are a .30-06 and a PPC.

Wayne, I reviewed the BAT 3 lug for Precision shooting a few years ago, the article is here http://riflemansjournal.blogspot.com/2009/08/bat-three-lug-action-by-german.html

And then I did the short piece on the .50 BMG action which I linked above.

No plans for more right now, I'd love to go to the factory and write that up, but the day job gets in the way...

Here are my two BR rifles. The lighter colored one was possibly the last one built by Bat with a Bat stock.
