Which BAT action for F-Class?

I can not decide which BAT action I will put on my new F-Class rifle...

It will be a switch barrel action and I will shot from the 6mmBR to the .308win or even 284 caliber.

I apreciate any help as I can see the diferences in F-Class for a model B, MB, M and 3 Lug. Which one will be better?

If you are going with a 284 I would run with an MB or M. Check out some of the Guns of the Week. There is a few that use MBs that are running 6.5 284s and straight 284.

LRCampos,

I built a f class/ benchrest on a BAT M in 6BR, looking to go up to 6.5 x 284. The M was too big for the 6BR. I have a B now, it is big enough for the 284.

I am having a 284 built and went with the BAT MB action as it has more "meat" around the barrel threads to support a long heavy barrel. In my case 32" long with a straight 1.25" contour.

Not to high jack a thread but Travelor do you have a barrel block on your gun? Thinking of a 30+ inch 1.25 straight also.

.

Thank you guys for the answers.

Do you think a BAT VRPIC action will be less accurate than a BAT B model single shot?

I was thinking on having a multirole switch barrel rifle and being a Remington footprint would simplify things to me.

Bruce Thom's recommendation to me specifically for a .284 action was the Model M because of the larger port length versus the MB. I know lots of guys are pleased with the MB. I'm just passing on his advice, which I followed, to me. HTH!

To echo what Kyle said....

When i talked to Bruce about a 6mmAI he recommedned the "M" action because of the port length.

BUT......Since this is to be a live varmint gun(not competition) and use the lighter bullets he said that i could use an "MB" and be fine.

i have an M and its sexy as hell!! ;D

my gun was built by lester bruno and he also recomended the M over the MB because of the extra port size. it makes it much easyer to remove a loaded round if you dont have an ejector.

externally they are the same so they have the same beding area same weight etc so why not have a bit bigger port?

the M just has a 3.3" port vs 3" and also has a larger diameter tennon for bigger barrels if you want.

i heard a rumor that the original M's didnt like the 6br but i think that has been fixed with some bolt head mods. give bruce at BAT a call he's really easy to deal with. ;D
