Shoulder on a Hornet?

I try to find Remington brass, IMO it's softer and thicker. That started back in the 70's with 219 Donaldson Wasp from 225 brass.
FF loads are 8. grains Lil-Gun with 40. grain Vmax
Out of 100 cases, I haven't cracked one yet.

20 Caliber Ackley Hornet
Sierra 39 grain #1039
IMR 4227 @ 10.0 grains
Federal 205 primer
Remington cases
100 yards
5 shots
CZ 527
Shilen 12 twist barrel
All fitted by Me.

This is a pet load that has worked well in the last five Hornets I’ve owned.

The best description of the Hornet fell in my lap many years ago. My brother and I grew up knowing there were only 2 calibers of rifle needed, 22LR and 30cal. In my 20's, when I bought my 1st Hornet my brother was like, yea whatever. One day after an ice storm we were out hunting, I don't even know why but we were there. Out of boredom, I tossed a hedge apple out into a pasture and shattered it with my 22 Hornet.

My brothers response said it all. "Hey, let me try that."

Nearly 35 years later, we still hunt together and make an annual trip to blast Prairie Dogs. He shoots 17HMR, 223 and is getting ready to buy a 17 Hornet.

If you haven't shot a Hornet, you can't knock it. There is no such thing as a perfect "do all" cartridge. If there was, none of this would be fun.

Started shooting the hornet in 79 and still shooting all in Contenders
Unique Round everything from just a primer with a inverted 22 pellet to full house Silhouette loads brass is paper thin and I learn years ago to only neck size and let it force fit the chamber. I guess if it looked like all other rounds they would be no need for this thread lol

Update, I'm guilty of using too much primer.
Kinda like over cooked to medium rare steak.
The Federal 100 has given me a lot of plus's.
Also Lil'Gun at 9.6 gr.

Also, Short chambering .080 and cutting the new cases back .080
This will let you use the longer 40 gr bullets in the magazine.
