Shoulder Bump Die?

That's a profoundly elegant deduction. I genuflect in the presence of true genius. I am taken aback by the level of discourse one encounters on a mere shooting forum such as this. It makes one feel humble, it really does.

Since my explanation of how to set back a shoulder using a body die may have been too ambiguous to understand, couched as it was in terms I deemed suitable for this venue, anyone wanting more details may contact me offline via PM.

Happy Birthday, USA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your smart A$$ remarks and inability to walk on water is what started this train wreck.................And why would anyone contact or PM you about a simple shoulder bump operation using a full length resizing body die

Topic: Shoulder Bump Die?
I am looking for a shoulder-only "bump" die, thought Redding made them, but all I find are "body" dies which full-length resize the body.

I prefer not to resize the base, only bump the shoulder back a tad. Who makes what I want? (It's for 6mm Rem.)

You won't even take the advice of the people who have the very dies you are asking about and have the very same "FULL LENGTH RESIZING BODY DIE" you ended up using.

"YOU" didn't even reinvent the wheel, you didn't even use the wheel you were looking for. All you did was put a smaller tire on your car and impress the crap out of yourself.

I could strap all my dies and competition shell holders to my feet and I still couldn't walk on water, so what in the hoppin' hades is the big deal about a simple shoulder bumping operation with a FULL LENGTH RESIZING BODY DIE.

Again I apologize to all the non-warring factions reading this, but my mother is Scottish.

Take another Valium with some Whisky (I recommend Highland Park 12) and go play with some holiday fireworks, it will render you comfortably numb.

Have a nice day! :)

Possibly I am showing my ignorance here in regard to using the Forster neck bump die, but would not multiple before and after readings with a concentricity gage along the length of the case not show whether a or not it is being distorted? Mine reads to 5/10000ths, and I can see no distortion to the outside of the case.

Jim,
What were you thinking? Hard data in an internet discussion....How rude!
Seriously, thanks for the info. The only reason that I do not recommend that approach is because I tend to shoot loads that require that brass be sized a mite a the head to maintain smooth bolt operation, but if you do not find yourself in that situation, the default setting is if it works, it is correct.

I have some experience with various forms of multiple step sizing, done for similar reasons, and other than taking a bit longer, found that it was an excellent method, as I am sure that you have.

Good Lord.......and I thought that I was anal! But, after reading this thread I've discoverd that I'm only just a small hair around the opening. ;D
