Should I give up and take up golf?

I just do not seem to have any luck with buying things for my new shooting hobby, You may remember my problems with SSS and my target action order. Now I am having similar problems with PTG. Ordered a custom reamer from them on Jan 5th with a 3 week delivery time. on Feb 10th I was told it would be shipped on Feb 11th or 14th. I called them on Wednesday this week (Feb 23rd) to be told that they would get back to me in the morning with a status......no call back. I just called them again to be told that they don't know where my order is and it will take them at least until Monday to find it!!

A set of Pings from the local Big 5 is looking good right now!!!

You will need way more blood pressure pills from golf then shooting. DONT DO IT. I wish I didnt. PG

dont giv up....shootin is way better than golf....it is very unusual for PT&G to loose an order....or goof up....they are human ....I have bought several reamers from them and usually get them way ahead of schedule.....their reamers are the best out there and will be just rite......I like the sound of a golf cart to use for hanging my targets !!!!...hahah....Roger

Another fourm member had similiar problems with PTG. I have ordered 2 reamers from PTG. About 8 mth between orders. Both times! PT&G's turn around time was spot on, as well as thier specs! Maybe I got lucky! I'm wondering if prepping for the shot show, and or taking care of orders they have recieved from introducing new prodcuts has got PT&G behind? However I still agree as I do with all the hype about SSS. Don't promise a product to someone if you know you cant make it. If you might be able to do it in 4 weeks then say 6 weeks. I plan things on what someone else tells me. So I need to be able to count on a mans word!!!!! JUST DON'T LIE TO ME OR MAKE EXCUSES! Tell me the turth and even if things don't turn out like I want them! I most likely will do business with you again! Simply because you were honest! If you or anyone that is doing work that I'm paying for and your Honest about it!!!! Then your work, and talent is worth my money and wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have found that Honest ppl do great work! Maybe not get it done when they said they would, But the work was always done to my satisfaction! This is why they get more of my money!!! I'll Pay the high prices for quality over quanity any day!!! If its not done right then it is worth nothing, and most likely the word I was given! I'm like anyone else! I want it Yesterday, but more importantly I want it done right!!! I'm willing to wait and give my money to those that are just Honest about things from the get go!! If someone tells me 6 weeks and it turns into 9 weeks because he made a mistake, or something out of his control caused him to not make his promise that I can handle! I had a experience with a Smith about a year ago. The work was not done the way I wanted it, and I was very unhappy with the way things turned out. Cost me $250 to have another Smith fix what wasn't right! The Smith that didn't do things the right way to start with is still highly respected, and a friend in my book, and may do some more work for me in the furture? The only reason for concidering that smith for certain jobs! Is because he was Man enough to admit his mistakes and offer to repay me for what it cost me to fix his mistake! I did not take the money! His honesty was payment enough! As well he still has my respect, and reconmendation! Simply because of his honesty!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Mark

just as in the shooting sports patience is the key . it is also important when waiting for that order to arrive . if you can't wait i would take up bowling . i think they shoot those pins with 45's don't they ? T.R.

I can't really speak about SSS as I've tried to call them to make an order about 75 times....and it'd either busy or they don't answer...but PTG is 100% standup! There must be a tactical problem with your order.
Go ahead and buy that new set of Pings, take an ass whooping when you buy them and sell them...then come back and shoot some more! ;D

I beg to differ, based on what I've been putting up with the last two months on ONE reamer that still isn't right after two tries, and can't get Kiff to call me back. I realize there can be mistakes, but this is a buncha bullshitt on this one.

I won't go any more public than that.....

I like PTG I have ordered several tools from them and their service has been good but my last order was for a counterbore with a facing cut, only gut the counterbore without the facing cut.

Ptg can be difficult at times. 3 weeks ago I ordered a bolt knob turning jig which was in stock and to be mailed the next day, nothing as of monday this week. I gave a call monday and they said they lost the order and sent one next day air.
My next question to them was an order for some .22 cal bushings I place well over a month ago? still have not seen them?
As for giving customers delivery dates on there rifles get tougher and tougher. Then throw mcmillian into the mix and who the hell no's whats gonna happen.

I have had trouble with PT&G on my last order . I don't know if Dave has some new girls working or what but they don't know jack sh*# and don't listen to a thing you say. It goes in one hear and out the other.

Just to cut 'em a little slack though, I know one of the girls lost a family member. I could'nt work right in a situation like that either. Prayers went out to her.

Same thing here, told them girls twice where to send my go gauge, in one ear and out the other BOTH TIMES!! As far as Kiff he was top shelf with me, and the reamer is spot on with the demensions talked about, turn around time for me wasn't bad and the two different girls and the guy I talked to were very polite and professional, just missplaced address I will give them another go when the time comes.

Golf! Golf! Are you kidding me?I am in the process of having PETA capture thousands of prarie dogs from western states and set three dozen breeding pairs loose on every golf course, east of the Mississippi.Shooting in syyle.Ban golf.

My experiences for the most part have been excellent when dealing with Dave, "O.K." when dealing with the office staff. On my last reamer order (6BRX) I specified a zero freebore with one of the staff, (my mistake) and within 2 hours Dave called and said it would not work with the bullet I wanted to use. He patiently explained the error in my ways, plugged the bullet into his optical comparator & said I needed .077". Without hesitation, I said, yes, that's what I want. He then transferred me to one of the staff, I re-ordered, she assurred me the zero FB reamer order was cancelled, 4 weeks later the .077" arrived, and 2 weeks later so did the zero. It was returned, they credited my account and paid shipping both ways. When calling, I seldom speak to the same person, there may be a high turn-over in the office (?), and, I don't understand how Dave finds the time to meet the high demand for all the PT&G products. It may help, (and I'll try it with future orders) to ask for the first name of the person you speak with & then deal with that person only. This may also be at least some of the problems at SSS: just too much business to handle, and not enough qualified, dedicated people to help. PT&G will continue to get my business, this little glitch would not be the reason for me to go elsewhere.

I've been the Club Champ twice in my men's association (B-flight not A-flight). I used to golf at least four times per week. Pings are a lot like rifles though, they're only useful in the hands of a master. If you struggle with shooting sports when taken too seriously then you may have a heart attack with golf! Ping has lost my 8-iron twice when sent in for repair as the weight in the back of the club has fallen out on three different occasions. Shooting is a bit more expensive but my rifles definitely don't depreciate as fast as my clubs. Since I gave up serious golf I've found that I'm a heck of a lot better with a rifle than I am with a 9-iron or any other club for that matter! I know I can hit a golf ball more consistently with my rifle than I can with a golf club! Patience is a virtue and keeping one's cool is a must in shooting as well as golf. If you give up on shooting for golf's sake you"ll end up coming back soon enough...... :)
