ShotMarker - the personal 8-mic e-target

The Highland Rim Shooters Club (HRSC) is an Air Force Base Services Club at the Air Force, Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in Tennessee. HRSC is licensed by AEDC to oversee the civilian access and scheduling of the use of the AEDC KD range. The civilian usage of the AEDC KD Range includes NRA XTC, Mid Range and Long Range, CMP and Appleseed events.

One of our HRSC members has taken delivery of a ShotMarker electronic target system and has completed check out at 100 yards and we are now doing validation testing on the KD range in preparation of using these systems for HRSC XTC matches. XTC participation on the AEDC KD range was once very well attended but has been in decline in recent years. The plan is to increase participation in XTC on the AEDC KD range with the use of electronic targets.

Our experience to date with the one ShotMarker system has been favorable and we will continue to work to learn to use this system for the XTC application. We are learning and also following comments here by others and know there are some issues. We can not afford the $10k or even the $4k systems that are available. So we will do the best we can with the ShotMarker for now and see if we can bring XTC back to glory with this new technology.
I have a feeling you won’t be disappointed...

I am interested in the ShotMarker E-targets. I have been reading the reviews and most are positive. I believe they will be very well received for F-Class shoots by younger shooters. Young shooters want electronic scoring ,(and some of us older shooters too). They are using electronics every day in their lives. Ranges/Shooters will purchase the systems that work. Electronic Scoring Aids the range hosting the Shoot.

I believe that shooting the Shotmarker E-Target can help a shooter to become a better shooter, the shooter gets instant feed back and has a record of all their shots. At $800.00 I may be purchasing my own Shotmarker E-Target ??.

A shooter has to have faith in the Rifle, Scope, loads, and the system you are using for scoring.

Fair enough. My apologies. I have no experience in those cases and am sorry you are experiencing them. By chance have you reached out to Adam to see if he can help?

I suspect Adam has advised clubs with this problem by putting target every other frame and he may be working on another solution.

In each corner of the target there are two sensors spaced 100 mm in front of each other. The sound hits both and the time between gives you the velocity. We need all four corners to deal with the fact that the incoming angle is not straight on. Based on all four velocity values you can determine the angle and the true velocity.

With this implementation the velocity accuracy is about 5 fps.
Here it is from the Oracle himself! Back in 2018 he answered this, in this very thread.
