Shotmarker target

The dimensions for the target frames that I have used for accuracy testing were within normal carpenter tolerances and achieved acceptable, for me, accuracy results. The inventor, Adam McDonald can give you a more knowledgeable answer.

I just started sooting mine and I am a poor carpenter. Mine works fine. Square and on the same plane as much as lumber these days will allow.

Make it as square as you can...or as close as modern lumber quality will allow (as noted by Steve D above).
Afterwards calibrate and check periodically.
The biggest issue is is target frame warpage and frame flex. That will throw calibration and target accuracy off. Also, the larger the frame, the greater the warp and flex potential.
This applies to all e-target systems with external sensors (SM, SMT) vs targets with internal sensors (KTS). The latter are very thick by design necessity.
We have 15 SMTs at our club. Our frames are light weight but very rigid. Other local clubs using both SM and STM have built in similar fashion.
We also keep them out of the weather in a secured location when not in use. Sun, wind and rain are not an E-target frame's friend.

My frame is not exactly square, however I made darn sure the sensors are set very square.
ditto. my frame is square, and the sensors are also, corner to corner. I,m only a couple mm from being square across to down. I have never calibrated mine, didnt have to. I think it helps the performance to get it really close. but i agree, it should work if it is not.
