Shotmarker data

Now, that’s an excellent question.

On another note – I believe I have read just every post of every thread posted on the forum on e-target accuracy. I have come to the conclusion that some shooters will never like the e-targets, others deem the e-targets to be adequate for competition (but maybe not for States or Nationals), and others prefer to just enjoy the shooting and camaraderie, and not worry too much whether a shot was e-reported off by a certain fraction of an inch. I am in the last group.

I have shot e-targets at Winnequah-Lodi in 2016 and 2017, several times at Big Piney-Houston (MO), and many times at CIHPRS-Atterbury. I have enjoyed them all, and never questioned whether I should have had a higher (or lower) score – they were as they were.

Excellent Post Alex !

I agree with all of your points.
You are definitely getting your moneys worth out of your investment and it looks like it has added a new and enjoyable dimension to your hobby.
It is amazing to me that Adam could pack the Quality, Reliability and Performance into his product that he did at this price point.

We have 10 of them for my club that I use in matches, practices and mini clinics keeping new Service Rifle shooters progressing so they don't give up.
They are locked up when not is use so that they are in full working order, fully charged and with no parts missing or broken when we go to set up for a match.
Members that have passed the safety Qualification can use our 600 yard range for personal use when there isn't scheduled event.
Some of these shooters are purchasing shotmarkers for personal use and the current wait for the last one that ordered is coming up on 8 weeks. Popular product.

Adam never stops working in further developing and improving his product so I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Has anyone shot groups on a shotmarker target and physically measured the groups on paper versus what the shotmarker readout numbers were? Say the shotmarker said the group was 5.0 inches, did it actually physically measure 5.0 inches on the paper and if not how close were they in relation to each other? Thanks for any replies.
If you have a ShotMarker this would be an easy test to do yourself and then you would know for sure. If you are using extreme spread to measure group size, you could shoot thirty two shot groups and measure the difference in the paper vs ShotMarker distance between shots. Since you only measure the two widest shots for extreme spread then you only need two shots for a data point. Thirty data points make the statisticians happy. They would be even happier if you shoot ten shots on three separate days. If you or anyone else conducts this test please share your results. My expectations are that you would see more variability in the data than you expect but we will not know unless someone runs the test.

I am in the infant stages of collecting data. I am planning on using these in a very informal benchrest style match at our club and should be able to collect lots of data there. Thanks for all the discussion from all of you, very informative.

All good points but one basic yet very important thing to keep in mind is,,,
the biggest factor to accuracy as Adam states in his O&M paperwork is how well the frame was built and set up.

The exact same Sensor hub, Access point and sensors set up a properly built frame and a poorly built frame will 100% guarantee producing wildly different results from the same exact ShotMarker ( or Solo ) hardware from frame to frame. Plainly not the hardware's fault in any way.

If the pinwheel of the X on the paper ( NRA / CMP ) target you are using as a reference aiming point is perfectly lined up with the acoustic center of the sensors you will be pleasantly surprised how accurate they are shooting for score compared to the paper scoring rings. I have observed many line shots that would need a scoring plug and 3x cheater glasses to see if it touched the line or not on a paper target in the pits be right on with what the ShotMarker system scored it as. Obviously if my target insert was placed 0.010" 2", 3" or 15 inches off center ( on purpose or by mistake ) The group would still be correct but the score would "obviously" not match up. Cave man simple... :)

I put one picture below but Check my content here and you will see pictures of how I set up my frames / inserts for the 200, 300, 500 and 600 yard NRA targets we use in matches at my club. (sorry, don't have time to repost all pics and info I have posted in other threads or go into greater detail again here.)

If one has larger amounts of free time and take the paper target that is constantly growing and shrinking with Temp and humidity changes and try to use a big steel ruler and a sharp pencil ( inherently but not purposefully introducing some errors in the process ) to plot out each shot and compare to downloaded X / Y Coordinates from the recorded files you will.

IMO ~ Awesome Products for such an amazingly affordable price.
