Shot some .308 win over a chronometer today need input.

Hey folks this is out of a 26" rock creek barrel bullet is sitting 0.008 off the lands 175 gr smk with 43.5 grains varget of powder.
10 shots Avg 2744 SD is 9 and ES is 29.
I have an ohaus M5 scale and check weights on the way in the mail. That seems a bit "spicy" to me for 43.5 grains.
The chamber is Palma 95 but I dont think that should matter.
I guess I will have to wait for my other scales and check weights to arrive to check the powder weight again.

You didn't state what powder you are using, but if your charge & velocity doesn't jive with published values I'd be more suspicious of the chronograph than the scale.

ok I edited the post to state varget powder. I bought a used V1 magnetospeed chronograph so this was its first outing.
Poked around on snipers hide since 175smk is the gold standard there :)
It seems several other people have almost identical velocities with custom barrels lapua brass and that much varget with the same primer.
I turned the necks did FL sizing with bushings set to 0.002 tension are my SD and ES numbers looking ok?

Mr Underbridge,
Your stated ES and SD along with the 1/4 MOA group says to me you re good there. The description of the primer says your not over pressure. As long as you have the muzzle velocity you need for the bullet to still be supersonic or more at the yardage(s) you are shooting out to you're good to go out and practice to improve yourself.

Personal loads NEVER jive with published values....

It is the nature of all the variables.

Isn't the palma 95 chamber throated for the 155 class bullets. You might be compressing the powder too much. Causing the high pressures signs.

Yep it is made for 155's, no I can hear the powder crunching when I load above 43.8 grains.
Got my check weights today I was actually loading ~0.15 grains less than I thought. so about 43.3

IF any one cares. I got my check weights in and calibrated my scale and figured out that I was showing 43.5 but was actually loading ~0.1 or so less.
So I caliberated my "new" scales (old ohaus M5), checked with check weights and this time used imperial dry neck lube on the bullets My ES is now 13 and my SD is 5.
