Shorty 6.5 Creedmoor load help

I just bought my son his first center file rifle (Ruger American Ranch Gen2). And am looking for some help with load data. I’m hoping to find a load that will run well out of a 16” barrel. I know that’s robbing the rifle of speed, etc., but I wanted him to have a handy rifle that wasn’t a broomstick when a can was on the end.

I’m planning to buy quickload, but wasn’t sure if anyone could run a quick load for a ~130gr pill in the meantime. The ideal load would have as close to 100% burn and capacity as possible. Barrel times of .823,882,or 958.

Open to any other suggestions, but trying to put something together that will be effective and not provide a ton of muzzle blast.

What sort of velocities are you getting? I really like the 130 grain Sierra TGK, but I’d be willing to the the 120’s a shot.

I recently ran a couple of ladder tests through a 20” Tikka. Have not moved forward yet. Alpha SRP, Fiocchi primers. Lower nodes, under max a couple of grains.

H4350 with 135 Bergers looks promising.
Staball Match with 120 TGK looks promising.

Most accurate 6.5 load I’ve found yet was only 36.5 of RL15. A bit slow on MV but it hammered. The faster burn should help it keep some speed in the shorter tube.

6.5’s are my favorite cartridges I have several and I’m hoping to one day add a 6.5x47 L!

My 18" 6.5CM will launch the 130 TMK over RL-17 at 2850 fps, which is more a "hunting load" for me. I'm guessing Varget would work fine too, just a bit slower. Same barrel shoots the 139 Scenar over H4350 around 2650, as my "range load".

Lapua SRP brass, CCI 450s, good brass life so far, over 10 loadings and gtg.

Buddy has my old CA Mesa LR that was cut down to 16.5” and it hammers with H4350 & 140gr eld easy money out to 600 yards. It’s a hunting gun so we didn’t shoot further.
