Shortest practical barrel length for a 6.5x47/6.5 creedmoor/260 rem?

Anyone have any idea what kind of velocity I can expect with lapua 123gr Scenars and Reloder 15 out of a 20" barrel?

One last time up. Anyone have an idea of how fast a 123gr Lapua scenar will go out of a 20" 6.5x47L? Plan on using Reloder 15.

I was in the same boat a couple months back trying to decided on a handier whitetail rig. I ended up going with a 22" Bartlein barrel. I am very happy with the choice. The farthest I have shot is 900 yards and it performed very well. The only bullet I have used so far is the Berger 130. Based on my dope it's shooting high 2700.

Here are 10 shots at 900 yards. The plate is 20". 9 of those shots went about 6". I am happy considering my skills and somewhat budget build.

Nice rig! After careful consideration I did wind up going with a 22" barrel. I didn't want to have such a short barrel that it short changed the abilities of the cartridge.

22" Reloader 15. 39.5 gr. approx 2950 fps.

It's not a 6.5x47 Lapua but I do have a 19" barreled SP in 260. I get 2765 with a 123 A-max and H100-v. This is a pretty mild load but that's where it shoots best. 19" is my favorite length for a long range specialty pistol. I have an identical barrel in 284 Winchester that I shoot with out to about 1300 yards with decent success. Your 22" lapua should do just fine.
