here’s how I run my 7SAUMDefinitely going to research the7/300 more and I am running MDT magazine and I can run up to 2.955 OAL. Thanks for your help.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with what Barnes has done with the .308 212gr Boar Rider bullets, if bullet makers would develop this style bullet, it could be a great option for when you need a better BC without a complete rebuild. What you’re doing with your set up is about exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for your input.here’s how I run my 7SAUM
Mag length (2.95) 175smk’s for 0-1200 ish yards for fast transitions and follow up shots.
Absolutely wicked on far yonder coyotes!!!! Lol
3.15” oal with 190LRHT or 183smk’s single feed for 1200 and beyond.
The 183 and 190 are actually really impressive past 2k if you have a location with decent spotting.
If I was going to design a cartridge I’d take the 300 WSM, shorten it .1 or so and shorten the body .15 or so to lengthen the neck and run about a .180-.200 freebore
It would look like 300norma improved or 375 enabler.
I think I will go with the 7 SAUM, and run 175s that will run in my $400 dollars worth of mags, single feed longer rounds when I go out farther ranges, like one of the other user mentioned. You can have your action cut for a Baney box which will give you 3.10 COAL. If that isn't long enough why not just single feed them. If you're planning on shooting a mile, it's not like you won't have time to drop another round in by hand.
You can wait like me for the 7 BSM. 7 mm wildcat based on 300WSM with 7SAUM capacity. Supposed to be released some time this year. I don’t do Facebook but you can do a search on Bryan Blake’s paigeThis is where I am at and where I want to go I had a REM 700 with a 26” Kreiger stainless barrel .308 1-11.25 twist. Had issues with it after I had a local smith work on it, sent to GA Precision, opened the bolt face up, M-16 extractor, trued, Hawkins bottom metal, and they rechambered it to 300 WSM. It’s shooting light out with a 178gr ELDX 3120 with R-17 and descent 190gr Sierra Match.
I want to rebarrel to a 7mm with magnum bolt face, that I can run 175-180gr and use my $400 worth of magazines, and I have over 1000rd of 300 WSM brass. I think I can use my short mag brass to make 7mm SAUM, 7mm SS, but I am very interested in the 7-6.5 PRCW, but not sure if I can use my brass to make them. I know PRC brass is more available, but I don’t want to re invent the wheel, because of the amount of good brass I have.
I know several working in that direction these days...It shoots small as Ive shot my friends rifle. You can wait like me for the 7 BSM.
Any general specifics of it?You can wait like me for the 7 BSM. 7 mm wildcat based on 300WSM with 7SAUM capacity. Supposed to be released some time this year. I don’t do Facebook but you can do a search on Bryan Blake’s paige
I’ve only seen pictures of the cases at this point and read a little of what FB will allow without an account; but yes, the shoulders are pushed back and flattened to 40. Neck is shortened as well.Any general specifics of it?
Pushed back shoulder?
300 WSMIts a RSAUM clone using donor Lapua 300 PRC Brass ...I think it was if I remember correctly.
It shoots really well...
Thank you..I knew my memory was faulty.300 WSM
And the shorter case will work with magazines better than a 7/300WSM or 7 saum with 180 or heavier.FL size 300 WSM brass in the 7 BSM FL die, all work is then done for forming. Fully formed, 40 degree shoulder that headspaces perfectly.
I gain nothing at this time loading them long, the chamber in my 300 is short cut for factory length round. Can't you just single feed it and seat em long? I have single shot sleds for every rifle. Only knuckle draggers use magazines to shoot ELR lol
