Shopping for glass

I have built my frist F-open rifle and am now ( after recovering some funds) looking to buy the glass for it. I have as of now $1600 for glass. Give be opinions of power, models and reticle? I would like to stay with NF, would love a comp but may have to stick with a BR? Thanks

Save up a few more bucks and look at the March 36-55x52 with EPZ ( Eye Piece Zoom ). For known distance comp. it is an interesting option. I have one on a 1000yd 17lb BR 6.5-06imp. and couldn't be happier. It replaced a NF comp. on that gun........The NF comp is a beautiful scope that i had zero issues with. I just really bought into the EPZ thing that March offers on that target scope. I also use a fixed 50 March on my LV 6PPC. Both scopes work great here in Pa/Oh/WV/NY ect.......What ever you decide i would suggest to get the best you can save up for concerning glass. It will keep you from finding the need to upgrade in the future......And take my word for it, real or imagined You Will Find The Need.....o_O

For f-class a scope with side focus is best. With the br scope you can not adjust it and stay laying behind the rifle unless you have really long arms.

I got into the F Open game with a Savage Model 12 and a Nightforce BR.
After shooting several 300, 600 and 1,000 yard matches I know where the focus should be set and don't touch it throughout the match. Don't get me wrong, a side focus/parallax would be nice but did not want to go overboard on a sport I was not sure I would stick with.

In rural Missouri town, that might be hard. I had to buy my NSX from dragman!!
You can go to a match. Maybe after it's over they will set their guns up and you can compare side by side. I have left a lot of guys look through my Competition at a match. All they did was ask. Matt

If your post was in reply to the #3 before it, be advised that all three of my March BR scopes (50 & 60 fixed and the 36 to 55 EPZoom) have side Parallax/focus. All have been the best I have seen in 65 years of competitive shooting and have been trouble free.

There was a 12x42 nxs with the 2DD reticle posted a few days ago.
They are usually $1450 to $1600.
It was the most common scope on the line until the NF comp came out.

I shot F-open and use a NF BR with a CH-3 reticle. I prefer the CH-3 because it has a floating dot.
I very briefly tried the new Vortex Golden Eagle ECR-1 but it did not work for me.
I set the parallax on my BR at the start of the match and I dont touch it for the rest of the day. I would not trade off my NF BR for any other optic at 600 yards.

What are the main differences between the nxs & BR 12-42 scopes? I thought the factory rep had told me they used the same glass but the nxs's were built tougher!

My thoughts I wouldn't spend $1500 on a scope . Unless it had the best glass and the and eye relief along with radical . Wate and get what you want it is a one time buy .
