Shopping for a stock... Howa 1500 LA

There doesn't look to be a whole lot of options on stocks for the long action Howa I'm going to build. Not wanting to go with a chassis. That doesn't leave me much to choose from. Looks like my options on something I like are the B&C M40, a Stocky's M50 or a Stocky's VG (vertical grip) carbon accublock stock. Between the three I mentioned, anyone have any experience with them or have any recommendations?

The rifle will be a Howa 1500 LA. It'll have a 26" barrel (most likely a Kreiger or Bartlein) with a Remington Varmint taper. I'll have it chambered in 300 WSM. It will be mostly be shot from the bench, but would like to do some prone shooting as well.

I wish B&C offered their Target/Competition stock for a long action Howa, but..... No dice.

I recently purchased the VG2 from Stockys and was pretty impressed. The fit and finish is excellent. Keep an eye out, I got mine for around $450 on sale. Also, McMillan will inlet several stocks for Howa SA but not sure about LA. May be worth a phone call to check. They are nicer than the Stockys.

That's good to hear. I'll sign up for their emails to keep an eye out for sales or specials.

I'm sure the McMillans are nice, but I'll be honest.... I'm not sure that I'm a McMillan good shooter. Haha. That and I'm cheap!

McMillan makes stocks for Howa. I have a LA A5 adjustable cheekpiece on my Vanguard 6 Creed with a 27" Bartlein 8 twist Rem varmint contour. I'm not a fan of chassys either. I prefer the A5 styles. Just get the McMillan, they make you a better shooter haha. You'll regret it if you don't.

Haha.... I've wasted more money than the cost difference in the McMillan vs the ones I named. And I'm all for being a better shooter. Lol. I'll give them a look. That's a nice looking rifle.
