Shooting the 25 BR

For the past couple of years I have been shooting the 25 BR. So far I have 5 barrels. All have been good shooters and a lot of fun. My #5 barrel is a 1-12T Bartlien 29" long with a muzzle brake/tuner. Recoil is very light. Scope is 12-42 NightForce. Stock is Edge BR.

Small groups, bug holes, have been with the Sierra 70 gr BlitzKing bullets. Good groups with the 90 gr Blitzking @ 3,400 fps+. BIBs and Fowler flat base match bullets shoot tight also. Powders include Norma 202 and 203B plus RL-12.

Anyone here shooting the 25 BR?

Yep, I do. Mine is on a Savage 12 in an old-ish Hunter Class McMillan. Barrel is 1-13 Kreiger, 1.250" straight (no taper) at 21.5" and shoots better than I can. Took a couple of sessions at the range to tune in, but I've shot pretty much the same load in it for 8 years and the groups are bugholes. I shot it a lot the first five years, but lately it just sits around and gets loaned out from time to time. Fowlers and Berger 82s are what it shoots with N133 powder running 3100fps, not blazing, but effective.

Before I committed to buying a reamer and a fresh barrel for the cartridge all those years ago, Fred gave me an old, shot out, take-off 25-06 barrel and I had it set back and chambered using a 6BR reamer and a separate throating/necking reamer. Kind of crude, but effective. I gave that old barrel to Matt when I made the decision to buy the reamer and build from scratch, Matt kept the barrel and it still shoots pretty good.
