25-284

Trying again to make my 25-284 shoot little groups. Shooting 135 Berger LRHT and 131
Blackjacks. My first testing was with MRP and H 4831SC. Tried light jamb and jump up to 10-15 thou off. Just loaded 4 sets of 5 rounds with bullets jumped 30, 40, 50, and 60 thou off.
With light jamb or jump of a few thou the rifle shoots two groups. Two shots touch and 3 shots touching.
If you have experience with these two bullets or shooting heavies in a 25-284 give me your thoughts.
Also open to powder choices for heavies in the 25-284. I probably have every powder that would work available to try.
Not interested in discussing any other cartridge or bullets. Trying to make this rifle act right for a match this Saturday.
Thanks
PS this is a proven action and stock. Bad bedding in not the cause.

It’s obvious you don’t want to talk about bedding but it sounds like it wants to shoot!…. Are you sure the barrel is exactly to the .0000 of your old one?…

while sitting at the bench stewing over my rifle not performing I had a moment of brilliance. I had not checked loaded round neck diameter against fired case neck diameter even though I know lapua brass has thick necks. Basically measured the same. Set up neck turner and cut necks to give me 4 thou clearance. Turned 20 cases and loading up today to try out.
How is it you know what to check/do but your mind just goes blank sometimes. Surely that’s not a sign of old age. At least I don’t shit my pants like the president

Just curious, what's the barrel life on a 25/284? I presume less than 6.5/284?
I don’t have a 25 but my 6*284 probably has 1200 rounds and I haven’t looked with a borescope at it in years as I haven’t shot it in years but I’m sure it’s on its last legs as far as great accuracy

You are correct Mike. Sometimes the answer is almost in front of the question but we simply don't see it right off.

RL26 is what I started with pretty much and really haven't walked away from. I have no reason to change powders after getting the accuracy I get from it.
