Is it just me, or do some of you guys get to hear everyones special "shooting" story once they find out that you are a gun crank/nut/shooter...what ever you are. Since I shoot long range, I always get furthest/best long shot "story". WILD storys.
The other day I got one. "I walked out the door and saw a coyote over by that big tree across the field there" as he points to the tree in question. I guessed it to be between 500 and 600 yards. "I grabbed my 22 magnum....them are flat shootin guns ya know.....held about 2 foot over his back and hit him square. Since he didn't go right down I shot him again". Now...I am thinking..(to myself, of course..and those that know me...it isn't always "to myself"....kina foot in mouth syndrome) that two feet isn't getin it done... just checked.....with a 100 yard zero......winchester ammo......59 feet. FIFTY NINE FEET HOLDOVER.
Mabe he was zeroed at 590!?!?
