Shooting sticks

This is almost like asking what kind of car you prefer, or beer, or whisky... It's kinda personal preference, cost, weight, ease of use in your type of conditions... Can be anything from two or three sticks, a boot lace, and some gaffers tape to a nice tripod with a leveling head either clamped or in a U mount.

I don’t usually use sticks, mostly bipods. But when preparing for a trip to South Africa, I was told to practice using them because that’s how it’s done there because of the terrain. I’m cheap so I made myself a set out of some bamboo that the guy down the hill has growing. Drilled holes and held together with a plastic zip tie. Worked fine and are lite weight, made a tall set and a short set.

I love mine. Made some after trial and error. 1st set made from small hollow fibre glass tent pole. 2nd set made from carbon fibre arrows. Weight about 2oz.
There is elastic down the tube and 3 piece. So they fold up and just "flick" out.

Use this knot.

A couple years ago I was all about the swagger Bi-pods and I still have a couple of rifles set up to use them but I have since switched to running a Tripod with an Arca Swiss Ball head. The only down side is the extra equipment to carry to the stand but other than that I love how stable and maneuverable they can be on stand.
