Who or what is on the other side of the tree line in that photo?I do have pretty much exactly that but only to a little over 500 from that window. Yes, I'm bragging a little bit but it's my little piece of Heaven on earth. Even has a concrete indoor shooting bench! Lol!
I usually keep 4 flags out all the time
There's about 4ft of drop to 50 yards and the 100 yard target is pretty level to the window and slightly goes uphill from there. Then a woods, a big hillside, crops another tree line and 2.5 miles to a single house and 500 acres owned by family. All along a winding creek bottom. I think if you saw it you'd understand why I feel very good about it. No one in 24 years has ever questioned it.Who or what is on the other side of the tree line in that photo?
I can see that you are shooting downhill and that it appears that bullets just land in the field but also means that a shot from level ground will be a different point of impact if sighted in from the downhill range.
I assuming that there no rocks in the field to cause a ricochet onto neighboring property/buildings.
Just have several thousand acres of AZ lease hold land across the fence line so as long as I don't shoot any of the grazing cattle I'm good... Would like to be able to have your set up though.
Too Green sure not in Texas. LOL.. Tommy McI have a bench built under a carport in a hay pasture. 160 yards. I have just under 400 yards at a rise- if the hay is cut. I could build another backstop and squeak 550 ish out of it.

Being at the range only relieves you of a minor part of the liability.I do as well! With that being said I have reconsidered this as a possible
problem if Lord forbid something should go wrong (Ricochet) and a
bullet ended up in a neighboring house. I know, but even with the best
back stop, crap can happen and an insurance claim could be a nightmare.
So now I shoot pistol at the home berm and leave the rifle stuff for the
Club range.
Thanks Bill
I stay off the ranges near deer season!Lots of unsafe shooters at public ranges from what I have seen. Makes me nervous more so than usual. I'm far from being an expert or professional but even I know just b/c you drop the mag doesn't mean it has been made safe. There could still be a bullet in the chamber. I shoot with a buddy on private land but that i just myown personal preference.
I agree, difference being there are no houses with in 2 miles of range.Being at the range only relieves you of a minor part of the liability.
That's a lucky place to have a range.I agree, difference being there are no houses with in 2 miles of range.
Thanks Bill
Crowds bother me and unsafe shooters scare me. Glad I am able to target shoot on private acreage. only drawback with unincorporated/rural locations is if a medical emergency should arise and cell phone coverage is spotty or non existent. Guess in that type of situation a sat phone would be a good investment.
