Shooting in the yard USA

My daughter came over yesterday to learn how to shoot a pistol. I put a steel target out back since I live out of the city limits and we started slowly shooting just a shot or two at a time. Soon we could hear another pistol in the distance, and then another somewhere else.... and another not far away. After awhile everyone was shooting and we felt guilty for stopping when we ran out of time. I guess everyone thought it was a good idea to shoot out in the yard! God bless America guys

Some days around here it sounds like an revolution...guys shooting pistols, trap, Ak, AR, deer rifles, 22's. Add to that there is a Sportsman's association a mile away, and there is always someone shooting there...just background music.

My closest neighbor is about a half mile a way . They always make a snide remark when me and my friends shoot on every other weekend ( 3hrs on Saturday afternoon ) . The other neighbors have no problems . Thankfully we own the property in-between the neighbors and our house . He better watch it or Tyson chicken or hog houses could be their new neighbors, lol .

Same here, and did you ever notice that the same thing happens with chain saws. I always tell my wife, "now watch, there are no saws running now but about a half hour or so of sawing there will be several in the background." Never fails and it sure beats living in a city. Like minded people with the same interests, A LIFE!!!

Absolutely, it just happened the other day when I cut up a couple small trees on my fence line, turned off the saw and could hear saws running...
now I’m not listening to those guys mowing in rain out there, they can have it all for themselves! Lol

You guys are lucky! I shoot airguns in my yard. I keep telling the wife we need to move out farther.

A friend owns 40 acres bordering FS on two sides, nearly every Wednesday I'm headed that way - shootfest.

yeah nice to be able to do whatever,whenever--got some pigs parading across the wheat out back last friday--impressed my kids with my shooting skills--at least someone thinks i can shoot--keep a rifle close for opportunistic hunts like that. im about a mile from town and a mile from a fed. refuge--many critters

The guys in the camp down the road started early today, I usually beat them . My bench is 50 feet out the back door,I have a dedicated 50/100 yard setup at that .If I go another 100 feet I can go to my bench on the hill,I can stretch out to 500 yards at that one . When the weather is nice I will often leave guns on the bunch for the day .Like today,40 degrees feels like summer...playing around with the new Ruger Precision Rimfire . Life is good in the sticks.

I live out in the country in north western Pennsylvania and if I don’t hear shooting within ear sound around my house I almost feel as if there is something wrong! The United States although she is not perfect our forefathers sure did get this one right! Thank you to all brave men and women out there that give us the right to do this, God bless the USA and never forget it!

Happens often enough around here. Like the more distant ones who I know have proper places to shoot. Don't really appreciate the neighbors on each side, with small lots, who have sent bullets through my shop and past me and my kids' heads while we're out walking on MY property because "well it's an open field so we thought it was fine to shoot across"...

Guy behind our property sold his 205 acres to CONE energy and only current way to it was through our property. CONE wanted a 50 ft right of way and blacktop it. Road is 50 yds from cousins cabin and they are going to build compressor station on the property line which is 600-700 yds from cabin. We have battled with CONE for over a year and they filed a lawsuit against us. If we went to court and CONE won we would have to put up with traffic noise pollution etc. if we win they would appeal and we would go broke! We have hired four attorneys in the last six years to deal with big businesses.
I’ve hunted our property for 35 years. We could shoot steel targets to 500 yds. There are 17 locks on our gate as of a month ago for every company that has access to our road. They have built a air shaft and two pipelines using our road so you can imagine that traffics we have put up with.
