Shooting in the yard USA

Ok, now which one of you guys are in SW Ohio who could stand a visitor. :)
Really envious fellas and would love to move and own some land out and about but, cannot due to mothers health/dementia and having to be nearby to help.

View attachment 1044157 Not my backyard but we had 96 acres 15 miles from the Wheeling WV Cabelas that we were forced to sell! Been in our family since 1943. Guy behind our property sold his 205 acres to CONE energy and only current way to it was through our property. CONE wanted a 50 ft right of way and blacktop it. Road is 50 yds from cousins cabin and they are going to build compressor station on the property line which is 600-700 yds from cabin. We have battled with CONE for over a year and they filed a lawsuit against us. If we went to court and CONE won we would have to put up with traffic noise pollution etc. if we win they would appeal and we would go broke! We have hired four attorneys in the last six years to deal with big businesses.
I’ve hunted our property for 35 years. We could shoot steel targets to 500 yds. There are 17 locks on our gate as of a month ago for every company that has access to our road. They have built a air shaft and two pipelines using our road so you can imagine that traffics we have put up with.

That sucks. I can relate - RB&B 60ft from my back door. Noise, trespassing, Lawyers, continued hassles, why do I stay???

So jealous.

I can't do the same shooting y'all do but I have been known to dispatch a critter or two in the back yard. I have some neighbors that'll light off a few rounds sometimes too.

I have to travel long distance to shoot. Across the road about 350-400 yards from my garage. I can only get out to 250 yards until the crops are down and it's not too muddy in the fields. I use a shooting cart towed by a riding mower and can haul all my gear with me. When done, I pull everything back into into the garage and I'm finished. I do take all firearms back into the house just incase.

Jay, did you purchase another chunk of property with the proceeds from the
sale?

Not sure what I’m going do.. can’t buy any property in that part of WV because of all the shale gas activity. Just matter of time before something else will be built next to you. My 17 year old son is heart broken selling our property. He started deer hunting 5 year ago and has shot 7 deer. As bad as we feel I feel for the neighbors that live there year round and will have to put up with the noise from the compressor.
Son has been searching for land in Ohio closer to home. 148 miles to our WV place.
We got paid very well for the property but we all would have rather kept the property.
You wouldn’t believe how many times the gate was left open. Guess workers should be required to take a reading test.

I feel for you losing that place, I looked at a lot of your pics from it over the years. I was curious if you were able to do a 1031 on another property. I've got the same thing going on. They only give you 45 days from close to identify the new property and 180 days to close on it. Finding replacement property is almost impossible, it's not 1910 anymore.

Sent you PM
They are destroying the beautiful hills of Marshal county WV. This video is few years old.

You know you are in paradise when you can wiz off your back porch without offending anybody and likewise shooting your guns!:D

Yeah but...... in the world of finishing(spraying),the old saying is "move the dry spot around".So,take the inverse when whizzin off the porch, haha.
