shooting a ladder can produce fast quality results

I have a used target rifle that did not respond to suggested loads.
I bought a new lot of bullets, and a new lot of powder.
loaded 12 rounds in 0.2 steps with a touching the lands length.
loaded 2 sighters from the middle of the string.
target at 200. shot the 2 sighters to verify where I was pointed.
shot and logged the 12 step ladder. shots 6 and 7 were basically one hole.
loaded 3 each at the middle of 6 and 7 and then 3 .010 shorter, and 3 more .020 shorter, and one sighter. moved in to 100 for this.
on lands shot .222,
.010 off shot .10, and
.020 off shot 0.040
25 rounds to get to .04 in one trip
I will check either side of 0.020 and maybe even .030, but think I am done.

Agree. I found a load that shoots bugholes and confirmed it later with a ladder for fun.

almost anything with a 1" grid so I can plot shots at the bench as I shoot them.
long solid line vertical and horizontal line to keep the gun square to the target.

.040 is the smallest I have ever shot. I would like to do it again but I am not betting on it. does a match win count as back up ?

Labradar. I just plugged the data into those two columns and created a scatter chart in excel.
