Shooters World: Lay it on me!

I dug out my copy of the old Accurate Arms reloading manual, dated 2000. Slightly to my surprise, it includes the 6mm BR Rem, that being SAAMI of course for the original BR with much shorter COAL and freebore than the more recent Norma / CIP version. As I said, AAC-4064 was the US name for today's Lovex SO62/SW Precision 20 years ago.

Case: Rem, max OAL 1.520"
Primer: Rem 7 (sic ... presumably 7 1/2)
COAL: 2.200"
Barrel: Douglas 24"

Sierra 60gn HP ............AAC-4064 not given

Sierra 70gn HP ............AAC-4064 not given

Speer 80gn SP ............AAC-4064 not given

Hornady 87gn HPBT .....AAC-4064 not given

Speer 100gn SBT ........AAC-4064 not given

Sierra 107gn ..............AAC-4064 Min 26.1gn ...... Max 29.0gn 2,645 fps 52,000 psi 2.355" COAL

Sierra 107gn Moly ...... AAC-4064 Min 27.4gn ....... Max 30.5gn 2,704 fps 51,800 psi 2.355" COAL

It is presumably case-fill / charge compression that stopped any loads for 4064 being shown for lighter bullets given that loads data are provided for the old AAC-2700 ball powder with all bullet weights despite its being a little slower burning than 4064.

QuickLOAD at that 2.355" COAL and using the default case capacity calculates 2,730 fps MV and 56,364 psi PMax for 29.0gn Lovex SO62 under the 107gn SMK, pretty close given the use of default values in this small cartridge, so it doesn't look as if the powder has changed much if at all over 20 years.

Sierra Reloading Manual IV which is contemporary to the Accurate Arms manual doesn't list any heavy bullets with the 6BR Rem. The 5th edition does include the 107gn MK at 2.375" COAL and has data for VarGet with a maximum 29.4gn for 2,700 fps (Remington brass / primer again, 26" bbl Savage BVSS rifle). Note though, the recently published 6th edition drops that to 27.1gn for unspecified reasons. No Accurate Arms powder was listed though in the 5th edition other than AAC-2520 (now SW 'Match Rifle'; Lovex DO73.6 in Europe)

So far I am finding it odd that it is described as faster than Varget. I just started testing Precision with 90VLDs this week and it is running comparatively slower for me. 24.8g Varget I get 2842 fps. 24.8g Precision yielded 2788 fps. To get equal velocity I had to go all the way to 25.4g of precision, which stuffs the case FULL.

I would agree with you. I've seen folks report that, but it hasn't been my experience. I've run it in .223, 6.5CM, and .308 with the heavies. It's slower than Varget in all of those applications.

Edit: Having now used my V3 AutoTrickler (as opposed to the older V2), Shooters World precision is a lot easier to work with. I've read a bunch of posts from folks saying it's 'easy metering' too. That's not the case in my experience.

I like the powder though. In all of my applications it's been more accurate than Varget, and delivered lower SDs than Varget.

It does seem to show pressure before you can hit Varget velocities though (i.e. Varget will deliver higher FPS at a slightly lower charge weight, without pressure signs).
