Shooters World: Lay it on me!

Yes Mr Johnson, what Hogpatrol said. Lots of tongue in cheek comments on here but they are a good bunch of people. We are all open to new info....

How about some more extensive load data, from a beginners point of it's pretty lacking. I have four cartridges I want to load, I purchased four different types of Shooters World powder, now from the load data on the canisters, the Shooters World data download, the Lovex data download and an email reply from Mr. Johnson I have come up with a total of just three loads. Dont mean to rant but I'm pretty disappointed.

Sir- I responded with suggested loading data either at or close to the projectiles and propellants you requested. The only load I was unable to assist with was a 110 grain .300 Blackout. Because none of your propellants on hand would effectively launch that bullet. So, I suggested you purchase some "SOCOM" or "Heavy Pistol". Sorry, but not even Hodgdon CFE Black (comparable in burn rate to Blackout) will do a decent job of launching a 110 grain supersonic blackout. It requires a magnum pistol powder, like Heavy Pistol, or SOCOM.

To my first statement in the OP, we fully realize that we're the new kids on the block. And I do wish assistance in feedback. We will continue to add data lines as fast as my powder hobbits and bullet gremlins can go!

It takes time we know. Load data for the heavy users that buy a lot of powder should come first not something that the customer burns 1/2lb a year like a 30-30 or 270win

Mr. Johnson,
Eventually would you please include data for the 220 Swift. It doesn't get the attention from the media and manufacturers but it is a very accurate classic cartridge.

I would very much like to see the max load data all normalized to Sami or some specification. If max is 55k cup or psi list the max powder charge for all powders for that cartridge at that pressure.
Please choose a common bullet (or two) for testing. Hornaday, burger, or sierra are great. One company only lists speer bullets in their loads and no others!!!!

All of us want more data. Thanks for good powders for the price. I have just started building some loads and I have had good luck so far. Long rifle is not listed for use in 22-250 but am having some interesting results.

Anything for the 338 Lapua with a 250 grain bullet or the 6.5 x 284 Norma with a 140 grain bullet?

I like SW powders, Heavy Pistol for .44 and .41 Mag.

For load data, I have three pounds of Ultimate Pistol I'd like to use for loading .357 SIG 124 grain loads.

It's my understanding that SW rifle powders are Lovex. Unfortunately I have been unable to find D100 or S071 or S070 equivalents in the Shooter's World brand. Any plans to incorporate these under the SW brand?

Hi Folks!

We're the new kids on the block, and we know it. For those of you who've found value in Shooters World propellants, we sure appreciate you being an early adapter. But there are other folks who have not found the necessary loading information to assist them in understanding the capability and value of these powders.

I'm the Ballistician. I've got my work cut out for me, and I know it. Day in, and day out, it's calibrating brass, making test barrels, keeping the gauges in good shape, cleaning guns, and running the lab.

We have launched a number of powders in short order. And that has called for more attention to launching new powders, than it has to filling in the holes with our existing data.

Time has come to head back into our data sets and further support new and existing cartridges with our current propellant offerings.

I'd sure like to hear the thoughts of this community regarding where we need to concentrate our efforts.

Best regards,

Ken Johnson
Offer a generous mail in rebate on one lb. bottles in order to get folks to try it . Only one per customer per each type of product.

I almost bought some Shooters World powder last week when Powder Valley had free Hazmat, I just didn't have much good info to go on to purchase. I'd like to try the Precision, not to replace Varget, because I don't shoot Varget, simply to have another good powder for several cartridges. Also willing to try the Tactical.

I posed the question on using this powder and there just is not much info out there, yet. One said that the 4350 produces a bit less velocity, than H4350, so had to up the dose a little. He liked the results, though.

With some powders being in short supply, you have really got a chance to step up and take part of the market share, if your powders can perform.

If you go back enough years (maybe 12-15), what is now SW4350 (Lovex SO70) was on the US market as AAC-4350 when the Accurate Arms Co. was an independent.

It was always then described as the slowest burner of the 4350 trio. If you have access to older reloading manuals from that period, you'll find a great deal of loads-data for this powder. Being rather slower burning than IMR/H 4350, it shades into IMR-4831 territory (Not the very much slower Hodgdon variant).

It's an excellent plain-Jane slowish burning single-based tubular type, no super short-cut or other frills. It works very well across many cartridges and load combinations that suit it and have enough room in the case for a full-pressure load. That is, it's a tad too 'slow' and bulky for the 6.5mm Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem and similar size case to bore ratio numbers, but excellent in the next size up case applications such 6.5X55mm, 7X57mm, and .30-06. (However, SW 'Long Rifle' / Lovex SO65 is very well suited to the smaller 6.5s and sevens.)

It’s funny how so many people don’t look at dates. People are trying to ask questions of the op, and he hasn’t even been on this forum since posting this 1 1/2 years ago.

True. But there is a great deal of interest around from others - powder buyers / users - on this forum about SW/ Lovex powders. There are another two or three live threads on the go on this subject. So, continuing here is IMO quite legitimate and potentially useful for many members.

I understand what your doing, and wasn’t meant toward your post. Your sharing good info, that can help us in the states. Sorry if my comment was taken bad. I was referring to the posts that were directing questions to the op. I’m not very good at typing. My one finger hunt and peck method. I usually keep comments to a minimum. That can tend to leave things vague, and taken the wrong way.
