Shipping long guns

ShipMyGun.com sounds like a very viable option. Go a step further if you have the availability...use a shorter box/container/etc...and disassemble down to stock, action and barrel separately. Reduces probability of damage to rifle even further. Or, simply, stock and barreled action. Had a buddy ship a rifle once and recipient said, the stock was cracked at grip and bedding destroyed. Just cautionary words...

The last time I shipped via USPS it was about $60. Shipmygun has been way cheaper.
I’ll have to look into this. The last time I shipped an F-class barreled action it was just short of 100.00$ including 2k worth of insurance. And to be honest I’ll have to admit that with UPS’s policy's I’m not convinced they would even pay out if something happened. E

If and when I ship, which isn’t very often, I bring it to a reputable FFL dealer locally and have them ship it for me.

I pay their transfer fee and shipping. Yea it’s a few bucks more but I feel like it’s easier than me trying to navigate the rules and screeding it up.

For the general public the Post Office is your best bet. Last I heard.
This is true. FedEx and UPS only accept firearms from registered FFLs.

USPS Priority is how I’ve done it.

If USPS is not acceptable to you perhaps a local FFL can ship it for a fee.

Yeah for me going forward if the other end will provide a free label for me to use or one cheaper than I can ship I'll do that and drop it off at FedEx or UPS, otherwise if I'm going to start using ShipMyGun.

I mean why wouldn't a person take advantage of a service that Bud's provides, they have all the checks in place, we get to use their shipping discount... it's a huge win win.

Like everyone else, I looked for a less expensive way to ship a rifle for a rebarrel job. I decided to remove the stock and just ship the (shorter/lighter) barreled action. I bought a Pelican knock-off that was probably designed for an AR-15. The case was very rigid and had numerous clasps to lock it down. The case was ordered from Amazon so it came in a cardboard overpack box. Amazon has MANY similar rigid cases that have different dimensions and various weights.

I shipped USPS and it still cost at $60 with no insurance.

I just shipped a barreled action. Luckily, I had just ordered something from amazon that came in a long box.

The box was 40x5x5. I shipped USPS, Adult Signature and Insurance and it was just over $75.

I wish the buyer's FFL was already in the shipmygun preferred list because it would have been way cheaper.

Correct, and that limitation applies to the parking lot as well. I just schedule them to pick up the firearm from my house when they make the mail delivery.
They didn't have an issue, nor did they attempt to have me arrested for entering their parking lot and facility with firearms for shipping, and they even knew what I was shipping.

when I did shipmygun.com, I was very skeptical but, when you get your mailing label from them, you also get a letter from some upper level ups guy to show the counter guy authorizing this kind of shipment. I was lucky and did not have to show them anything. But I live in a more conservative area of Komifornia.

since we are on this topic of shipping, I would like to say something to the folks who refuse to ship guns to California. There are roughly 40 million people in this state, yes about 25 million are liberal pukes, that leaves 15 million conservatives that you won't sell a firearm to. 1st. of all, I have chosen to stay here and fight and you won't help me by selling me a firearm because you are trying to make a political statement. I am the one behind enemy lines. and 2nd, that's a lot of potential buyers to remove from possible sales. it's not helping to say, "no sales to Ca". you are just helping the liberals.
The people who wont ship to Calif
I agree with you here, they are not a regulatory agency and are therefore discriminating
and in effect helping the Liberals which is Non Productive, This country is country wide last I checked.
Grafs was awesome though during the whole large cap magazine crap
Gotta give it up to Grafs for staying with the Peoples rights
