SHIP My Gun Service Reports

I honestly don't know how they're getting away with that. When I do a firearm shipment it requires that I schedule a pickup. It won't let me make a label without scheduling a pickup. So I'm not sure how they're getting around that.
Would it have anything to do with the state you're in?

I have shipped many long guns using shipmygun.com. HOWEVER that all changed when UPS no longer ships firearms for individuals. Others have posted that they purchased the shipping label from shipmygun.com and were refused at the shipping center. You have to schedule a pickup by UPS now, and that costs extra. I'm not arguing, just adding detail for the current situation.
these are the rules as stated by SMG where does it say have it picked up?
Firearms, including handguns, may ONLY BE SHIPPED through a Ups Customer Center (counters at Ups operational facilities). You can find the Customer Center location closest to you using the Ups Drop-Off Find Locations tool. When utilizing this tool, please make sure you are only leaving the Ups Customer Center box checked. Firearms are not accepted for shipment via Ups Drop Boxes, Ups On-Call Pickup®, or at locations of The Ups Store® or any third party retailer. I just shipped a hand gun two weeks ago.

It does not.

Getting Your Firearm Products Shipment to UPS

Firearm Products may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services.
Note: Firearm Products are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes or UPS On-Call Pickup®, and may not be tendered to, dropped off, or picked up at locations of UPS Customer Centers, The UPS Store®, any third party retailer, or any UPS Access Point™ location, with the sole exception that pre-packaged, pre-labeled Firearm Products may be dropped off at UPS Customer Centers

It appears they have changed the rules.

This is how they read now. They used to say they had to be picked up.

"Firearm Products may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services. (See? Pickup account)

Note: Firearm Products are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes or UPS On-Call Pickup®, and may not be tendered to, dropped off, or picked up at locations of UPS Customer Centers, The UPS Store®, any third party retailer, or any UPS Access Point™ location, with the sole exception that pre-packaged, pre-labeled Firearm Products may be dropped off at UPS Customer Centers. Non contract shippers must coordinate with a UPS approved Firearm Products shipper to whom they will ship the Firearm Product to obtain a shipping label that complies with UPS’s requirements for the shipment of Firearm Products. Such pre-packaged, pre-labeled shipments can be tendered at a UPS Customer Center. Firearm Products are not eligible for Delivery Change Requests (including, but not limited to, requests to reroute) or UPS My Choice® requests."

They just went backwards on their own rule.

The whole thing is a joke. I'm glad you can drop off firearms at a UPS hub again.

YEA I know what it says, I can read English, I have shipped guns with them 3 times this years with NO problems, I have a feeling the people who have had issues were listening to those of you who were stating complete misinformation. I shipped guns last year too, AND THE RULES NEVER SAID YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT PICKED UP!

I have a friend who owened a UPS store. The UPS store is a franchise and is not part of UPS. There are several items that cannot be shipped through the UPS Store. From the conversation with the UPS store owner, this causes a lots of confusion.

You need to ship it to the buyers FFL for the background check.
And send it in pieces.......

Remove the scope & rings, remove the barreled action from the stock, unscrew the barrel, remove the trigger, take out the bolt, and send just the action to the FFL. Send the rest to the buyer directly.

I think that would be the buyers call. There are some that won’t have the tools or skills to properly and safely reassemble the rifle.

Why?

How many horror stories have you heard of that stocks are busted all to hell, even fork lift tracks on the boxes? At the very least, split the barreled action & stock into two boxes for shipping. Two smaller boxes don't scream "GUN" like shipping a complete gun in a gun case does, so less chance of damage, whether accidental or intentional. Insuring for the max amount doesn't guarantee a return on damages either.

When you buy a gun of mine online, you expect it to arrive in the condition it was bought in. The best way I can guarantee that is to tear it apart, pad and pack individual pieces separately, and send them on their way in 2 or 3 boxes. My gun, my rules......

I've emailed them and asked if they can enable shipping to the Lapua test center for rimfire testing. Shipping via a local ffl is ridiculous.

Also, that first post reads like an advertisement written by Shipmygun

sorry just letting other gun owners in on a system that works, to bad for the idiots posting their opinions on how it works or doesn't without a clue of what they speak. you sound like you have a problem with people trying to help.
