Shilen pre-fit barrels for Savage

Does anyone have one of the Shilen pre-fit barrels for a Savage? I have several Pac-Nors and am eyeing up a Shilen for a future barrel for the Savage platform I currently have. They have a fairly good amount of chamberings for all the popular calibers. Is the extra cost of a Super Match grade barrel warranted vs. a Match grade barrel?

I put on a super match grade Shilen barrel on my 6BR Savage about 2,000 rounds ago. It was a very heavy contour and still shoots better than I can hold.

They currently have a LONG lead time so get in line if you are serious. I have a #8 contour, 30BR on order.

Lothar Walther makes prefits for Savages also and with a trip to Blackstar for their treatment these barrels shoot great.

I looked at Lothar Walther but wanted to stick with a tight neck and Shilen has the reamer I would be interested in. From what I found out while researching, it appears that Walther barrels are made from a tougher type of European stainless which lasts longer than 416 or others. The Walther selection is limited somewhat for someone as picky as me, but should not deter someone else from considering Walther pre-fits for Savage actions.

Have been pleased with all of them given their price and lead time.

The Shilens work very well.

I always buy the highest grade that a given manufacturer makes and haven't regretted it.

Actually I talked to J this morning. We were visiting about a date for the swap meet. She said they were hiring people. A friend was needing 4-308 barrels and she said 8-10 weeks.
Yes, I know that it was tongue in cheek.

I know it is from May of '07, but I have a Shilen Match chambered in .308 Palma I will sell at a decent price.

I don't have a calendar in front of me, but March 4th or 5th sticks in my mind. When we firm up the date I will post the notice from Shilen.
