You can use a short action for the 6.5 SAUM and mag feed it.Assume a long action is needed?

I'm nearly sold!No, I have a 6.5 saum setup for a 140 at 2.950 (wyatts box)
i had kevin weaver build me a goat gun. pierce ti action, hi-tech stock, march 3-24 and a 24" #2 i believe in a 270wsm. complete gun with sling is 7.15lbs, went to shop and weighed on better scale
Do the short mags need a special action to feed correctly?I couldn't agree more; when it comes to a flat shooting mountain rifle I don't think you can beat the 270wsm for a cartridge. Take your barrelled action and drop it in a McMillan edge stock and you've got the perfect rifle.
MORE THAN HAPPY WITH STOCK I HAVE. HAVE HAD MCMILLIAN STOCKS, NOT OVER IMPRESSED.I couldn't agree more; when it comes to a flat shooting mountain rifle I don't think you can beat the 270wsm for a cartridge. I've had no problems with mine feeding.Do the short mags need a special action to feed correctly?

i have no idea what a 6 SAUM 4s is???I built a baby 6.5SAUM 4s on a Seven action, w/ 22" #3 Hawk Hill in an AWR stock that threw 130s @ 3100. Was just under 8 lbs., scoped, slung & loaded. Notched the center of the feed ramp & could feed 2.950" easy, from that little Seven action. 130s run around .100" short of that from the .081" FB "4s" reamer, so there's plenty of 'wiggle' room. Buddy has that rifle now & he loves it! If I had to spec a 'sheep rifle' that'd be the blueprint...
