Selling used items for new prices

Is anybody else getting sick and tired of people trying to sell USED stuff on this site for the same price as the items cost new!!!?

I can understand people asking higher prices for recently produced bullets and barrels that have not been touched. But I'm sick of seeing people trying to get new prices for used reloading eqipment, optics, stocks and other rifles parts, etc.

A shooting forum is supposed to be a place where a guy can shop for a good deal from fellow members selling things. Like a garage sale or classifieds in the daily newspaper. For new prices Id much rather buy from a reliable source like Cabelas, Brownells, Sinclair, or MidwayUSA.

If you want to sell something used for a brand new price, quit wasting our time and flooding our forum's server space with your rip off sales!.....please :)

I always list a 'fair' (not new) price for you things - I want to sell them. Offer the seller a lower price. Haggling is a world wide tradition...

I don't go to the "for sale" section any more. Better deals almost anywhere else I look. However, somebody must be buying or the prices would be coming down.

An action or barrel blank that has never been used should be able to get almost new price for it. Especially since you cut out the long waits for these parts. I don't mind paying new price if I cut out the wait and the item has never been used.

i haggle....and dont mind being haggled...what one prices something for is up to them....what one is willing to pay for an item is a whole different story

I just purchased the ruger charger pistol stock and new barrel for $60 shipped...heck you cant even get firewood and rod iron for $60 shipped....ill have a new charger pistol for less than $180..ive got $120 invested in an old ruger 10/22 that will be the doner action

Well, for the most part, well taken care of high-end reloading equipment and optics don't depreciate much and the cost new isn't going down. Over and above the new cost are taxes and higher shipping.

Don't like the price? Don't buy it.

Pretty simple to me, just don't buy the items. I buy and sell very little on the forums, but check things from time to time.

I have made 84 deals on here and if you dont like what I send you,you have the option of sending it back with money returned,no questions asked. I price my items very reasonable to sell not gouge people out of hard earned money .I dont like getting taken and have only had trouble with one deal on here period. Most guys are good people and feel like we are all kindered spirits.

Don't get me wrong, there is a fair amount of good deals on here and every once in a while I beat others to the punch :)

I greatly appreciate all of you who offer fair deals. The fellas I've bought from and sold to so far were simply a pleasure to deal with.

Like Isaid before, some UNUSED items like barrels and actions and certain stocks are understandable, but some of the stuff listed here is almost ridiculous.

I don't mind bartering, but it takes time I don't always have
Face to face bartering is one thing, but waiting an entire day or two for each reply on an offer is just too much for me

I definitely know what you are saying. It is weird sometimes the prices folks are listing stuff at. High end front rests have been a decent investment over the last few years. For sure the used prices are more than they paid for them new, and they generally get snatched up pretty quick.

I understand some people buying the products listed don't have access to these items in the area they live. I use to sell electronics online, and most of my buyers bought my products so they wouldn't have to drive many miles to get one from a retailer. Some would spend $200 in fuel to get the same item. Some items are hard to get in certain areas, such as some NF scopes. If they see them here, they buy them. I sold many items and sent them to Dutch Harbor Alaska via USPS. Definetly not much up there!

Just a thought.

As long as the items are as advertised, it's a free market.

I get torqued when items arrive NOT as advertised. My time and money are precious.

It's the whole bloated market....

Wait until after the election... Prices are going to PLUMMET if Romney wins...

I'll gladly take a beating on things I have bought if that will get him in....

You probably don't want to hear this, but it is illegal to take a serialized action that was originally designated as a rifle and make it into a handgun.

It's not illegal at all actually. You just have to make sure you register it as a "handgun" with the ATF through an FFL dealer.

I guess what bothers me the most, and that is only mildly, is posters with 5 or even sometimes just 1 post who are trying to sell something in the classifieds. It seems that these folks always say Money Order or check "ONLY". And then on top of that they don't even post a picture of there stuff. No pictures bugs me anyways. Like I am going to send this clown a Money Order for $1,600 for his nightforce scope that he doesn't even have a picture of, just an example. Those are the folks taking up band width. The picture thing is really simple as well. Go online and download a picture resizer the one I have is really simple to use-just point and click, it needs to be that way for me.

The price thing doesn't really bother me, I just ignore those ads...

I agree with your picture statement. How the heck to people expect to sell rifles and other high dollar items without showing pics??? It's not rocket science to figure out how to post pictures on here.

Did you read the latest post about the "6.5 Rem Mag" rifle for sale that I guy took in on trade? No pictures of course, but he doesn't even list the make or model of the rifle!!! And he has 340 posts on this forum!!!

Please show me where you can legally convert a rifle receiver to a handgun without obtaining a Class III tax stamp??? When did this law change? Used to be once a rifle always a rifle but you could convert a handgun receiver to a rifle. Used to be if you bought a new unbarreled receiver and made a handgun you were ok but you couldn't barrel it as a rifle and later a handgun? Not wanting an arguement just a clarification as to when or how a rifle receiver can so easily be converted to a handgun. Thanks.

Respectfully,
Dennis
