Selling & shipping a revolver

I’ve considered selling. A nice revolver on the classifieds. I can find no legitimate way to ship from a private individual to a FFL. Any suggestions?

You can get the receiving FFL to issue a pickup ticket for the piece. Only costs about $3.00 more than the shipping.

I sold and shipped a lot of handguns through my local dealer and the post office. I took the gun, packaged and ready to ship but not taped shut, he entered the gun into his books and put a copy of his FFL in the package then taped it up. I used pre-printed and pre-paid labels at first but his commercial USPS rate was better than mine. Once it was all packed I either left it with him and the mailman picked it up or if someone was in a hurry I dropped it off at the post office acting as his agent. He charged me $25 for one handgun or $40 for two the same day.

Some things I learned along the way:

-Nothing on the outer package that says or implies it's a firearm. If the outer box says Colt or S&W I just put a white opaque adhesive label over it and maybe hit it with a jumbo Magic Marker.
- USPS is a whole lot less expensive than UPS or FedEx. Post office will let you mail it USPS ground. The others insist on overnight or two day. Mine all got there safely.
- Finding a dealer should be easy. The fees they charge vary quite a bit but they list them on Gunbroker:

I just drop mine off at local GS. They package, label and ship every day, charge me actual fees.
Of coarse, donuts or pizza for all once in a while doesn’t hurt.
