Montana has changed drastically in the 30 plus years I've lived here, even more the last 4 years.
I just drove from Havre to the Columbia River in Washington yesterday it looked like a mass exodus headed east with vehicles and R.V.s on I-90 from missoula to the Columbia.
What i hate is we are and have lost an alarming amount of farm ground in Western Montana and I-90 corridor

I saw a headline that hinted the public land sale was removed..... but I will believe when I see it.
Looks like they pulled the land grab from the bill. Thank goodness!

I am against crony land deals to private equity and financial groups who were bailed out repeatedly over the last 30/40 years. They used sub 1% money (that us normal guys couldn't get) to buy up farm land and houses the last few years.

When companies buy up ranch land then trade it for U.S. Forest Service Lands that are supposed to be of equal value, things get very confusing with the elevated value of the ranch land that now has development moving in around the ranch land .In 2018 the Farm Bill was modified with the Small Tract Act to allow this to happen. It's coming from all directions with old ranches sealing out, or trading for more valuable Forest Service Land that they will develop and be worth more because of where it is compared to the ranch land that is now closer to development. The new acquired Forest Service Land will be boarding other Forest Service Land with better views and be much more valuable. It all gets lost in the details . From land in one spot to land in another spot. Track homes vs million dollar estates.

I dont care for the alligator alcatraz. The everglades are a natural resource. Never been there but some of them would drill for oil next to old faithful. Build the cool hand luke prison somewhere else. Doug

I just read that the sale was pulled from the bill. there must have been a pretty big uproar. Thank goodness!!. We have to watch those slippery guys in DC. They will do anything they can to make a buck or make their buddies richer!

Er, uh, well, that was Sen Mike Lee (R) pet law to get passed.
What kind of unAmerican Republican would want to stab the American people in the back by selling OUR land.... and probably to the Commie Chinese
It's done all the time. We have agency's in place for both federal and state
sales. It's not party specific, but it's over site is run by current administrations.
The current administration is in favor of selling lands, but ran into some push
back this time......It's not only the Chinese.....
