Sellier and Bellot Primers.....anyone using them?

I recently saw them online as well. No idea how they are. They are not the Wolf or Tula Russian primers so far as I know. Company has been around for a long time, I am sure they go 'bang' but no idea what size or intensity of flash they give.

Tks in advance.

Sellier & Bellot happens to be a Czech company who has been in business since 1825. You can google them and find what you need to know. Cabela's hired them to manufacturer Cabela's Herter's line of ammo according to American Hunter.

Matter of fact... they make brass for Winchester. I have used several lots of US made Win and the S&B made for Win brass of the same caliber. The S&B held much longer.

Don't know about their primers or rifle brass but their pistol brass is SOFT. If the brass has been shot in a Glock It's probably good for one reloading before the primer pockets are too big. I usually cull and use for practice.

S&B are Czech primers, they are little bigger in diameter, and are soft. Had zero misfires with them... I think you will be happy with them.

Sounds like what I need for my FC cases. There's still some life in these cases except the primer pockets are getting a bit too loose.

I got a 1k of these when they were the only thing out there and I was out of primers, I eventually shot them against WW, and Fed210m and with my 243 load of 4831 they were very consistent so I am using them as the go to for that gun now.

Hi rbose,hi all

To answer your question, yes they go bang all right, yes they're from the Czech republic, and yes they've been out for quite a while. When I started reloading a while back,of course I didn't know all the miscellany things and bits of info I gathered since,so when it came to primers,I took what was cheapest at the time(1K for a cent each)and they were S/B,the vendor at the time told me that he was nearly giving them away because otherwise noone would buy them, arguing that they were crappy or something...I got them, tried them, compared them with CCI 200 that I'd just bought a bit later, and could'nt see a notable difference in both...Some months back I went to that same shop and asked that same vendor about them, and he told me he had none left, and that at a cent a piece, everybody had finally discovered they were good to go...They're just as good as CCI in my opinion, certainly a bit different in some kind of way,but they sure do the job, their rifle brass is absolutely great if you get the chance to find some, and here where I live(New Caledonia) it's cheap;I wouldn't bother with their pistol cases, too weak, but their rifle ones are top material.Hope it answers your question.

Thank you to everyone for the feedback. I've gotten really low on my LR primers hoping supply would catch up with demand and now, I need to make a move. The S&B primers can be bought for $30 per thousand and if I'm gonna order, might as well get a 5K case.

Didn't want to jump in without some experienced advice.

It's been my personal experience that the European primers are every bit as good as anything made on this side of the ocean. Sometimes even better.

I've been wondering why the Chinese aren't in this market --------- yet?

In Bryan Litz's second book on Advances in Long Range Shooting, he showed that the Sellier & Bellot LR primers had much less standard deviation in muzzle velocity than any other primers he had tested. Until you get your muzzle velocity under control, long range precision will not occur.

Just started using Sellier & Bellot primers on 284 Shehane. Developed load for my new barrel,
Bartlein, with Lapua [expanded 284/6.5] brass and 180gr Berger match. Fireformed at
52.8 gr VV165 [very accurate]and final load at 56.8 gr VV165. 3 in one hole consistent at 200yds.
Looks like a pretty accurate rifle, will know for sure at 600yd match. BTW the S&B primers fit tight
on cartridges that had been fired several times, the CCI250's fit very very loose in the pockets.
Overall I think the S&B's are OK. No duds yet. time will tell!

wouldnt it be like norinco rifles, AKs and shotguns? we cant import any chinese firearm parts in here. remember the $29 SKS rifles? all gone now thanks to I believe clinton.

I bought one K ogeach large and small S&B primers I have loaded some shells and not shot them yet. The employee at Cabela's that I talked to said he uses them exclusively and that they brought his SD number way down. I'm hoping they work in my current non match loads

Dont know about their rifle primers but their pistol primers (for me, in my brass, in my guns) difficult to seat and cups too hard. Many click and no bang.

I've read many very good reviews on those primers. The reviews were by competitive shooters and the most common comments were lower SD and ES.
