Seeing Bullet holes at 600

Anyone have a scope that can see bullets holes consistently at 600 yards. I know when the mirage starts running nothing will, but if you could see your Bullet holes 50 percent of the time while shooting your group it would be a huge advantage! I shoot a 36 power Valdada and can see them occasionally.

Depending on conditions, a NF 12-42 BR, NXS or 15-55 Comp will do er. I have on rare occasion pick out the X at 1000 yards, granted it's white on black with the 15-55 NF.

Good luck. I have a 20 x 60 X Leupold spotting scope, but finding the target on 60 X is not easy and then even the slightest movement and every thing is blurry. We usually leave a guy at the target and use walkie talkies.

I've seen them at 600 if they aren't in the blue and mirage isn't an issue with the NF competition. I've actually seen 22 cal holes at 600 but that doesn't happen often. I don't See how seeing holes will help. Once you have a group going you need to hold same point and keep shooting to hold that group the best you can with conditions. If shooting F class that may be different situation.

Bart, I have shot the 36X Valdada, a 12-42 Nighjtforce, a 15-55 Nightforce, a 10-40X Burris, and a 10-60 March and I can't see the 6mm bullet holes with any of those. Maybe it's my old eyes :'( or perhaps this Louisiana atmosphere. James

You dont see the value of holding for shots to minimize damage in pickups and letoffs?

James I guess my short range habits kick in. When the wind picks up I hold for it! If you could truly see your bullets as you were shooting I think you could possible "hold off of your last shot" to try and keep them together. Just a thought. It would be a tall order for any scope.

Bart, the Nightforce comp should work for you. There have been times we could see 6mm at 1k. Conditions have to be perfect. At 600 mirage and hits in the blue make it hard to impossible for me anyway. Clusters make it easier to see. Seeing your hits is great except for those times your first shot is way out in 8 ring somewhere. Kinda puts a damper on the next 4 shots.

It's sounds like the 15x55 Night force is the way to go!
Has anyone tried the 12x52 VALDADA IOR TERMINATOR with a 40MM tube? The 36s are phenomenal. I've been offered the opportunity to give one a try. It's an impressive looking and feeling piece of equipment. Can't wait to try it out.

Different approach: I bring my own multi colored stick em dots, red, yellow, green, etc., which makes it very easy to see with my NF 15x55 scope.

However, I had the privileged of using a Swaroski spotting scope during a match, I forget if it was 60 or 80 power. I would see the hole form while viewing through this spotting scope. It's the best I ever put my eye on. I know it's not a scope, but as soon as funds are available, I will have one.

Dennis I have one of the Swaroskis. It's extremely clear! I may be selling it to finance the scope!

I might have one to trade if interested. I will have to look through my collection.

I can see 6.5 bullet holes at 600yds with my 10-60 March, but not 100% of the time. My son can see 6mm and 6.5 bullet holes with his NF 12-42, but not 100% of the time. I guess it depends on the humidity or such. If the mirage is bad, neither of us can see the shots.

Bart, I have or sold all the scopes mentioned and none work at a 1000 and none are reliable at 600. Don't get obsessed with seeing hole like short range BR. In shooting marked targets read the mirage with what the last hit gave you, don't chase the spotter. In BR 600 and 1000 pick a condition to shoot in and time it see how many shoots you can get off in the time then wait for it to return….. Jim O'Hara

i do 500m fly shooting so 547y in your distance, and i tried a 32x NF scope and it was just to hard to see my 6mm holes so i upgraded to a NF 12-42x56 and it was great but then i had a look through a NF 15-55x52 comp and had to have one so i upgraded, and its great for seeing holes, only thing is that in low light conditions (early morning or late arvo) is its a little cloudy but once sun is out its great and so clear
