Covinth,
Try this bellow if you would like to clean the internals:
1. Remove the joystick.
2. Raise / remove the coaxial unit off of the twin posts, slide it up.
3. Remove the bottom plate and the rubber boots. Use metric allen wrenches provided.
4. Loosen the (four) tension screws. For about 4 full rotations, counterclockwise.
5. Move / shake the top assembly back & forth.
Remove the teflon plate/sheet from the bottom side.
6. Use teflon chain spray (recommended), spray/flush the internals. From the bottom side + front & rear side.
Use the tiny-long plastic tube to reach the internals.
You can get the teflon chain spray from a hardware store.
You may substitute the teflon chain spray with other type of lube with thin viscosity, (WD40 or Ballistol may work),
but teflon base lube is the best.
7. Make sure the internals are cleaned.
8. Put back the teflon plate and the bottom plate.
9. Clean and lube the twin posts.
10. Also clean and lube the holes in the coaxial unit that get into the posts. (Use the teflon chain spray).
11. Put the coaxial unit back in place.
12. Secure the joystick and move it to the lowest position.
13. Re-tighten the tension screws until the end tip touching the teflon plate inside, by bare hand (fingers) only.
14. Put/secure the joystick in place, move the joystick in rapid circular motion.
15. Check for the smoothness, move the joystick up-down-side to side.
16. Re-tighten the tension. You may add the tension a bit by bit, again by your fingers, until the top doesn't rocking, and in the same time to find the finest or your preferred tension setting.
If you are already satisfied with the result, re-tighten the counter-nuts (17).
18. Hold the tension screw in place (i.e. to not rotate) when you tighten the counter nut.
Use the allen wrench to hold the tension screw, in the same time use the open hex wrench to tighten the counter nut. No need to be over tight, just to hold the tension screws in place / not to move.
Steps #15/16-17-18 could take times especially if you are not used to do it.
I recommend you to put a tiny mark (use a marking pen) on the head of the tension screws, for instance at 12 o'clock. It's for your reference in case you lost the finest setting.
*Caution:
The screws that hold the bottom plate could be so tight (and glued on very first gen units), better to STOP to loosen them if they are so tight.
If you have a small pointy torch, first heat the head of the screws.
Sorry I forgot to add... Also remove excess lube. Use clean-soft towel/cloth.
I also do not recommend you to remove the bearings & center shaft (and then the internals), unless you have a good mechanical skills?
Hope this help.
Please let me know your finding.
A short video should be great, but unfortunately I don't have a SEB rest anymore now.
If you have problem, send me some photos of the rest and/or the internal plates taken from bottom side.
Add some wordings in bold.
English is not my main language, my apologies if this is not perfect!
