Seb Mini Rest Problem

I’m having a problem with my Seb Mini rest and need advice on how to correct it. My Mini has always been a great rest with no issues at all. Today I was at a varmint match shooting a 12 pound and an 18 pound rifle. The 12 pound rifle Was tracking and shooting fine. The 18 pound rifle at 300 yards was all over the place with a proven load. I thought maybe a scope problem or loose rings. We then moved into 100 yards and it was worse! I then noticed when I released the joy stick the rest drifted down. I’m guessing it was loose whenever I released the stick and when I shot the rest top jerked off target. Questions where do I tighten the rest so when I release the stick it stays parked. Someone at the match said to tighten the 2 screws on the front of the rest to fix this. Is this correct? And if so should I remove these screws and use blue locktite on them. Is an 18 pound rifle borderline too much weight for the Mini to handle?

thanks much!

Your friend is right but contact Alan Wofford for rest upgrades that will fix your issues.
I dont recall his screen name but hes on this forum.
I have a mini that he worked over and it made a big difference in the rest.

What you need to do is remove the center sand bag and find where the top plate mounts to the X-Y block and locate the two set screws just inboard of those mounting screws. Turning them clockwise will compress the two counter balancers so the handle will not drop from the weight of the rifle. I have used mine for 22 LB F-open rifles and they will balance these. You might need to trial and error a bit.
