SEB question (AKA will my checkbook hate me?)

I shoot F-Open, and have been pondering a new rest. I've seen seb's in action, and know they're gorgeous. What I am wondering is what people's experiences have been in hopefully this scenario: changed from one rest to a seb, but with the same rifle, load, etc. Did you see a marked change in group size? I currently run a Shadetree top on a Cowan base. I love joystick control (it was that or get my arms to grow so I could reach the front rest) so the basics I like, but just wanted to see what other folks experiences in accuracy are. I get the changes in stability, and smoothness of operation.

I've seen shadetrees beat SEBs, the right gun, reloader, shooter. They are nice rests, smoother with counterweights. Not sure it will cut your group in half though. You can always sell for almost what you paid.
 
I switched from a Farley to a Seb Neo. I shot well and won club matches with that old Farley. The Seb is way smoother and pretty too. I guess the main thing for me is no longer wondering what you're wondering.
Not feeling like I'm giving up something or at a disadvantage when I'm on the line about to shoot for score.
I keep records and my scores have also improved. Is it because of the SEB or because I no longer think about the rest?
 
I've bought, sold, and used at least 3 dozen rests in the last 11 season's of competing. From different generations of Farleys. Seb Coax, Seb Neo's, Magnums, Lenzi's ect and I've done good and bad with each one. I've see lousy shooters upgrade their rests from a Shadetree to a Neo and they still shoot lousy. It's not the rest that determines how a person shoots it's the shooter. It like giving one of Jimi Hendrix's Stratocasters to an average guitarist. He not going to play it any better than he's capable of. To me shooters are like guitarist. There are all levels of each. You have people who are lousy, fair, good and great. The great ones were born with something special inside them that made them great. Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Clapton, and Eddie Van Halen. No different than Hathcock, Alvin York, Allie Euber, Tony Boyer, Dean Breeden, Bart, Audie Murphy or Vasily Zaytsev. They were born with something special that made them great shooters from the get go. Shooting great just came naturally to them like a duck takes to water.

I will say though that spending more money on new stuff isn't always a better way to go. IMO, a good used gun with a proven track record beats anything brand new and untested even when the best components were used and the best people put them together.
 
The sting from the checkbook is short term. The joy of shooting off a SEB is long term :)

Like others, I don’t think a SEB will increase your scores, but it does make it more enjoyable at the firing line. I switched from a Shadetree to NEO this year. I would not go the other way around.

FWIW I did get 1st place at the first match I shot off my NEO.
 
I have owned 3 NEO's, a Max, a MINI, and a Joypod. They all worked perfectly and never let me down. I have a NEO X on order and I already know I'll like it. They are all top quality and sold by a company with integrity. It is not often this day and age that you can buy something and say - "I have no regrets and wouldn't be without at least one" - but I can with my SEB's.

I am new to F-open and this was my first year shooting the local matches .
I switched from a modified Bald Eagle 1005 which had a lot of play in it to a used Seb neo .
My score sure did go up with the Seb rest over the Bald Eagle .
The rifle was more stable which probably influenced my grouping .
I felt more comfortable because I did not have to fight with the front rest to get it back on target after shooting. My set up is a Revolution benchrest stock , Seb Bigfoot rear bag and Seb neo front rest.
I think the rear bag , stock and my inexperience caused me to raise bald eagles. elevation screw to where it would be unstable
 
Have any new Neo-X’s from his latest batch made It to people in the US? I think there was a recent FB post that they are being worked on
 
i have heard the Seb makes great products. However
1. It’s impossible to order seb rest or joypod in reasonable time.
2. I cannot purchase anything in EU currently.
3. I would have to be put on SEB’s mythical waiting list and eventually SEB will get back to me in 10-12 months or so.

It’s difficult to understand why anybody in the whole world does not manufacture a joystick operated bipod for instance.
For a rest there are several decent replacement like lenzi or others.
