SEB NEO Rest

Thoughts on the new SEB NEO Rest. Was thinking bout buying one. Wasnt sure if i shold go the SEB NEO Rest or the JJ Rest. Thoughts please??

Having seen and handled a prototype new SEB rest, I can say it is butter smooth and easily set-up to suit the user's preferences, likewise friction levels are easily adjusted to just hold any rifle weight.

It has a much greater windage and particularly elevation movement / adjustment available than the Mk 1 model, the carriage / top assembly sliding up twin pillars to suit any range-set up. For instance, Vince Bottomley was using a prototype supplied for evaluation yesterday in a UKBRA winter season 600yd competition at Diggle Ranges in the north of England. The range layout is such that we shoot noticeably 'uphill' from this firing point and this often causes problems with getting the rifle elevation high enough. The many users of the Mk1 model have bought or made extra long stand-screws to raise the rest off the bench-top by several inches. The new model was fine on the supplied screws, the carriage just moved to the top of its travel on the supporting pillars. Vince's rifle tracked superbly on the rest.

Am I impressed? Let's say I always resisted buying the Mk1 model and stuck to my trusty Sinclair front-rest, but I've now placed an order for the new model with the UK importer for whenever they arrive. (Production hasn't started yet - there are 10 prototypes out for evaluation and feedback and SEB will incorporate this in the final design.)

There are other advantages over the original too such as it can be used with the base facing in either direction depending on situation / firing point / bench set-up; easy disassembly and very compact storage arrangements that reduce the device's size dramatically when not in use, and more. This is a really well thought-out machine.

There are two evaluation / demonstration videos on YouTube if you haven't already seen them - go to the Daily Bulletin (blog) on the main 6mmBR site, and/or visit

for a 6min 58sec evaluation video by Vince Bottomley and Andy Dubreil on the top left of the magazine's homepage.
