SEB Neo question

I was very lucky to find a used Neo to buy. My rifle is a Savage 12LRPV which I will be shooting in club Groundhog matches. I have a Protektor rear bag. My problem is when I put the rifle on the rest and bag it is not very stable. It doesn't want to stay vertical (stock to scope). I have a Protektor front bag that I had installed on my Rock BR that fits the stock great but I can't mount it on the Neo. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks in advance,

call pat at PMA tool. he has a new top for the neo that takes regular bags. the other choice would be to get a bag rider for your stock from sinclair

Check the fill in the front bag to be sure it is level under the stock. The fit of the rear bag to the bottom of the stock is important as well .

The PMA tool option would probably work but another $300, I thought $1200 for the rest was enough. I checked what I think you mean by a bag rider and I don't think that is legal in this class, you can't have a flat bottom stock. I think I need to find a way to use my Protektor front bag.

The bottom bag is full, maybe it's too full, I might try less and see if I can get the bag to conform to the round shape of the stock. The material is very slippery, which would normally be a good thing, but it allows the rifle to tilt very easy.

With the stock being round on the bottom........Brownells sells a 3" flat bottom that attach to the bottom of stocks like yours. I have had one, they work great and are not expensive. That may do the trick for you.

As I told Dusty, it's not legal in my class.

I have the same gun. Call Savage and give them your serial number and ask if they have a bench rest 3" flat forearm stock for it. Mine is a beautiful grey colored laminate stock. Mine was a drop in, cinch it up to specs and start shooting off a rest with a 3" bag. IF you do this, get the new action screws as they are different length than the ones in the original stock. I mean this was a total game changer for my LRPV. Mine is the right bolt, left port. Shoots circles around everyone at the local club.

I will say this again, here is a quote from my clubs rules "No flat bottom bench rest stocks are allowed". Mine is also a right bolt, left port.

The only option you have is grab a cheap bald eagle varmint top rest or the pma top. Or trade your neo for a farley and drop a new bag in there

You might consider calling Protector and ask if they make a front bag that specifically fits your NEO rest. They do make specific bags for various rests and that may take care of you problem. Just an idea. Good luck and DO NOT PART with that NEO rest!!!!!!

Thanks Alex, I'll be on the phone in the morning. Oh, I'm not even thinking of getting rid of the NEO. I'm 74 and just getting started. If I stay in this hobby a while longer I'll probably get a proper BR rifle.

Gene,
I know the feeling. I just turned 71 and have the same thoughts of getting "a proper BR Rifle" while I'm still around to enjoy this sport. Don't get me wrong, my BR rifles are all good shooting babies, but none have those custom actions like a BAT or other QUALITY actions that the serious shooters use in competition. Just gotta try one. Good luck on that bag.

I hear ya, I'm about 10 miles from Kelbly's, where I'm a range member. I'd probably have to go with one of their rifles.

Hi Gene, try to contact Ernie Bishop our USA dealer and tell him about getting a sporter bag one pc bag to suit your stock.
Hope this help,

Gene, any modifications on my rests would void the warranty.
You can come to me with any problems with your rest and I will always try to help / to fix to the best I can, even you bought it used, even it's an old rest. However once the rest has been modified either by yourself or someone else the rest wouldn't be my business anymore.
My advise, don't spend your money for something you don't really need it. Buy proven things.
