Seating Die interchangeability?

Prose

Anyone seat their 260 Remington with a Forster or Redding 6.5 CM micrometer comp seating die? If so, how does it do?

Can a person buy parts for the Forster dies to convert them back and forth? What about the Redding dies?

Forster dies yes, check their website for their part list. If the main body is the same parts number you're good. I priced a few out that way, sometimes it worked out where I would just buy a new die because parts after shipping was 20-30 less than an entire new die. Not worth the hassle to change out and keep track of parts

The Creedmoor case body is a tad shorter than the .260 Rem. Case base diameter is the same for both and the shoulder diameter on the .260 is a tad smaller. COAL on a .260 is 2.035 and on the CM it is 1.920. I use a .308 die for .260 but the .260 is just a necked down .308 case

Not a 260 but a 243 so its close. I've got a bunch of seaters for the 243 including a Wilson with arbor press since I was always looking for something that would give me those magic straight loaded rounds. The Forster gives me the straightest loaded rounds out of all of them. Plus I like the micrometer top.

Beefy is right,. Its not worth 20-30 bucks and then have to keep track of parts.

Its the specific

It is the specific cartridge die chamber that holds the the case body and bullet in perfect alignment. Meaning the .260 and 6.5 CM do not share the same case body dimensions or shoulder angle. And this would effect the bullet runout during seating so you would be much better off with the proper seating die.

Below the Forster die chamber shoulder angle and case shoulder angle is what centers the case in the seating die chamber and holds the bullet in alignment with the case body. Using the wrong caliber die chamber with a different shoulder angle could cause misalignment and runout problems.
