This seems like a bad idea. Between the labeling issue and the potential for creating a real explosion in a fire, I don’t see it worth the risk, even if it did somehow help the powder last longer. What about transferring it to a glass Mason jar with the metal thread and seal?
All smokeless powder containers are made of HPDE which is virtually impermeable. The Achilles Heel is the screw top.Y'all know that plastic is permeable, right?
I think they are air tight as if that matters at all. Loosen the lid on a bottle of Reloader, squeeze it hard and put the lid back on tight. It will stay that way even though it is now under a vacuum. For the last 20 years, I’ve been able to keep the seal that came on the bottles, but I tore one up pretty bad and decided to chunk it and just use the seal in the cap.
I just wondered how important that is and if I’m the only weirdo that kept them.
Several brands don’t even have a seal. Are any of them actually air tight?
What do y’all say?
