Screaming Stupid Loads in 30 Cal?

The other day, I saw a reloading video where a guy was talking about the 300 H&H. While he was talking, I noticed the manual he was looking at had loads for the 100gr VMax at 3600 fps.

I am curious. Has anyone tried loading a lightweight bullet in a 30 cal just to see how fast it can go? How did it come off for you?

I had a barreled action that was new and I sold to a fellow out west years ago, it was chambered in 300 Ultra Mag Improved. He told me it would launch 110's at 4200. I just laughed. I did have a 7mm STW that would 3720 with 120 bullets. "Feel the need for Speed" TOP GUN

300 wsm sammi chamber 9 twist 27 inch. 110 Hornady Spire Points with 79 gr Superformance 3900. Shoots good.
110 Vmax would blow up before a 100 going 3600. Worked really well in close on beavers.

I used 110 gr Speer Spire Pt. out of a .300 WM to shoot groundhogs back in the early 80’s. Never chronographed them but they shot good and tore up the groundhogs. This was out of a Ruger 24” factory barrel. Loaded them in a 30/06 for a buddy and they did well out of it too. Wish I had a chrony back then but didn’t. Used IMR-4350 powder.

130 TTSX in my hunting 300 WinMag (24" stick) @ 3,550 fps was most accurate load in that rifle and dropped anything it hit instantly. Never took a shot over 250 yards with it. Point blank range was like a laser.

Have shot several antelope with 125gr nosler ballistic tips from 308s and 30-06s 3150-3350. I have a 30" 300wsm and several hundred 130gr TTSX bullets I need to play with. I'd really like a hunting load with a 100+GR bullet going 4000+ fps really want caliber.

For chuckles a few weeks ago...

I tried the last of my 125 Sierras in a 30-06 Ackley. Pressured out just under 3600fps with N150. Maybe try a slower powder if any more bullets ever appear.

The last of my 125 Ballistic Tips shot pretty well in a 300 H&H at 3500fps with RL16. A mild load, with room to increase. Betting RL23 or 26 may do even better.

If you have a real need for (30 cal) speed, try these:

I used their 124gr version in a .308Win just for laughs.

Not sure if you consider it light but I had 165 NBT's running high 3300's in a Win and high 3500's in a RUM, both were rough on deer.
