Scopes for Service rifle Leupold 1-5 x 20 ?

Based on the new rules for Service rifle and optics for NRA competition I believe my 1 inch Mark 4 1-5 x20 should be legal.

What do others Think?

Below is the rule .

Below that is the Marketing description by Leupold (which is erroneous because actual magnification is limited to 4.5x , See spec below).

NRA 2107 Service rifle Optical rule

The rifle may have an optical sight (reflective sights are considered optical sights) with a maximum power of 4.5X. Variable scopes with a maximum of 4.5X are permitted. Only commercially manufactured scopes that were produced with a maximum magnification of 4.5X and that have a maximum objective lens of 34mm may be used. If an optical sight is used, the same optical sight must be used in all stages of a course of fire (changing sights is not permitted). The centerline of an optical sight shall be no higher than 3.5 inches above the centerline of the bore.

No because your scope goes to 5x it is over the 4.5x limit.
Buy a vortex pst 1-4 moa before they are all gone, they discontinued the scope but it's the best one under the NF and March options at 4-5x the price
Only downside is it's half minute clicks so I've had to do some hold over to get higher x count in some stages, like back when we shot m1a's and Garands

But that is my point. The actual magnification in the specs is 1.5 to 4.5. Leupold just calls the scope the 1.5 to 5.

I think that based on actual magnification the scope should be legal.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Write a letter to cmp and NRA, see what they say. I would also keep copies of said letter with you in case some match director sees it differently

Its legal in my opinion. However, keep that paperwork with you in case some protest. You could also have 4. Inscribed in front of your 5x, giving you 4.5x.

Save yourself the trouble of carrying paperwork around. The local matches won't care, but shoot a great score at Nationals and you can expect some grief.

I had them build me a VX-R 1-4x with M1 turrets and the parallax set at 300yds. I had them put their CMP reticle in it, which is a 10 MOA circle with crosshairs through the middle. It's been a great scope.

That sounds like a great idea how long did it take and what was the cost?
