scope recommendation

what scope do you guys recommend for F class 300 yds ? Shooting a Tikka 223 bull barrel.

Nikon Black 1000 FFP. 6-24. Plenty of scope for a "shop" rifle. ( yes, I know Tikka's shoot OK)

And Nikon won't sell them here in NZ!

I got a deal on a Vortex Viper 6-24x50. Bought it used from a fellow shooter in our club and it has never been mounted on a rifle. $300.00

Small bullet holes in a target at 300 yards can still be a huge challenge for mid grade glass from Nikon and Vortex. I would look at higher end options if its within your budget.

If you can swing the weight and price tag, the Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30x56 is a good choice. Available in SFP or FFP. Bullets holes at 300 yards in a target is a walk in the park for that scope, even if the mirage picks up a bit. The image it delivers is nothing short of amazing.

I shoot 300yd F-class and do very well with the Vortex Golden Eagle. Own and compete with both, and I prefer the ECR-1 reticle over the SCR. I would go with higher magnification than 24X, at least 40X for best target acquisition.

Watch/search on this site for used Sightrons SIIIs. They offer good value for the money.

You say 300 yards. That's today. Think farther down the road and buy once. Pick your poison: Sightron, Vortex or Night force.

Magnification is your friend..............I would go with a 10-60 variable.
