Scope recommendation help

I am working on putting together a 300 Norma mag improved for primarily just long range target shooting. I currently have 4.5-27 razors on my 22 and 6 BRA and like them but they are for a different purpose. I am wondering would it be beneficial to just go with a more bench rest style scope for increased magnification and plainer reticle or just stick to the EBR7 reticle I’m comfortable with? I was thinking for 1500 yards the increased magnification could be nice but I also think the 27x of vortex would work. I also noticed it seemed like a lot of bench rest style are in MOA and I’d rather stick with MIL if possible. I’d like to stick below or at 2500$ budget. Any solid recommendation to look into?

I love my Sightron SIII 10-50x60mm's. I've had NF and a couple GE's, but still feel the SIII's are the best balance of quality, magnification, eye relief, value, warranty and customer service out there. Tough to beat or even come close to them in the $1,000 range.

At 1500 yards, 25X is plenty to pick an aiming point on a 1-MOA steel plate. Wind is going to be a much, much bigger factor than your precision of aim. On warm days, mirage wrecks any hope of resolving details like hit splash on your plates, so high mag isn't great for seeing small details far away.

I would caution against high mag benchrest scopes for long range - they often don't have enough elevation to dial for long range. Figure out the farthest you could ever conceivably want to shoot, run the numbers for drop, and make sure you buy a scope with enough elevation travel:

scope_max_drop = scope_total_elevation/2 + base_cant - (3 MIL margin for zeroing)

Thank you guys for the reply’s, I’ll just throw the razor on there and try it out before buying a dedicated scope. I have another question, what makes the NF ATACR and ZCO scopes double the price of the razor? I would really like to look through each but from a PRS standpoint a lot of guys seem to shoot ZCO or NF. If money was no object what are the main benefits of those two scopes vs the razor, I do see both NF and ZCO have about 35 mil of elevation travel which is more than the razor,

I have two long range 6.5 CM's. One has the Revic 428 and is superb and the other has the Zero Compromise 427 and is beyond superb.

It's not about what "will work," as you could make a 6x Weaver "work." It's about convenience in seeing strikes on steel targets and dirt berms, and the more precise aiming you can do with high mag. I have ATACRs and they are great scopes, but if I were shooting at 1,500 yds I would want a Competition 15-55. That is what I use for F-Class. The ATACR is a little hard to look through at 35x, but the Comp is beautiful at 40x - 45x. It isn't bad at 55, and I find myself running it there all the time.

Yes the Comps are MOA but it isn't hard to run both, and I prefer SFP so my reticle does not "grow" when I crank up. It is east to find the 15-55's used for sale here for $2,000 or less.

SageRat has a good point but I run a 25moa base and I use Burris XTR Signatures, which give me (up to ) an additional 40 moa above what the scope has, so a total of 65 plus the 55 in the scope.
