Scope recommendation for 338 RUM

I just picked up a 338 RUM. I plan on shooting to 1200 yards or so at targets and use it for elk hunting as well. For the targets I plan to use the 300 gr SMK at around 2750 fps or so. 250 Accubonds will be used for elk.

This gun has a brake on it which I hear is hard on scopes. I'm also looking for target knobs that will return to zero and be repeatable.

With a $650 ceiling, what would be a good scope?

Thanks.

If it's primary use will be a hunting carry rifle a 6-24x42 SIIB @ 569.00 would be a good choice.

Now if your mainly going to use this rifle for shooting long range targets a 6-24x50 SIII LR-D @ 759.00 But I'd hate to carry around a rifle with a 50mm objective a lot, if your young and strong and don't mind shoulder the load go for the SIII.

Either way contact Larry at greatscottshooters.com 270-924-5290 he's got what you need. Take a look at his web suite, and the Sightron scopes, great courteous service.

Good luck
RJ

I will second on both the Sightron's and Larry D. Scott I have had very good experences with both!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like the brake would be a asset to a scope that kicks like the 338 RUM does..
I put a 4.5x14 Burris Fullfield on a friends Harrells breaked 338RUM I built for him and the scope has never missed a beat, it didn't miss a heck of a nice 6x6 Bull Elk either last fall........ at 368 yards from what I was told... he had been shooting out to 600 yards most of the summer figuring he would have a long shot... A darn nice scope for the money..
