Scope opinions

I had a 243 built for my wife this summer and am looking for a scope I can put on it that will not brake the bank. Looking at 2 that I have never owned a Bushnell Elite 4X16X50 with a 1'' tube and a Vortex Viper 6X20X50 with a 30mm tube. Need one that picks up late evening and early morning light, but something that tracks well. I will sight it in from 100 to 400 yards. Any input on the two will be appreciated.
Thanks for your opinion's

I have the bushnell 4200 4-16 x50mm which is the same scope as the elite except for a higher price. It is a good scope and it gathers light as good as my leupolds in the same quality. The vortex from everything I read is decent but much heavier I believe than the bushnell. Look on ebay for a used 4200 and spend less money and sometimes you can find the vortex used. I would only buy from someone on there with at least 96 percent feedback.

I have a Vortex and like it. Got it about 6 months ago. I keep getting guns, and it's a pain to move my Night Forces and re-zero. So far, it's done well for a "cheaper scope". I read a few posts from guys that use the Bushnells and love the quality for the price. I, too am on the hunt for one to try. I got a Sihgtron 8X32, for a .308 and last trip to the range, it took a 4 click jump to the right. Still sorting that one out.

Jonebearman does it have turrets you can set to 0 at 100 then sight in at 2, 3 and then 400 yards.Target turrets is what I asking.

The Viper +3. Dollar for dollar I don't think you can find better glass. I don't want to reflect on the number of scopes I've purchased and changed. I currently own three of the Vortex products and as much as I like my Leupolds and Nightforce scopes, when someone asks what they can purchase in terms of getting the most for your dollar, I'll pick a Vortex.

Take some time and look into the Sightron S-III line of scopes. I have an 8-32x56 with the LRMOA reticle that I am real happy with.....

Really fond of and happy with my vortex 6-24x50.
The only problem with my vortex is that when I set it down and pic up my bushnell elite 6-24x50 I can't help but think WOW.......... I really love that.
In my world of modest optics :
The vortex gets a solid 7 and no complaints.......but the B-elite gets a WOW 9+ and considering what mine has bean threw I have to question weather I am being too conservative to Just give it a 9+WOW.

Here is a short close up video of my 6.5-20x44 viper so you can see what the turrets are like. Other than the smaller objective it identical to the x50 models. They usually run around $450 but Ive seen them on sale (normal this time of year) for ~$350.

The glass is pretty good.. not as good as a 14x ziess conquest i looked through recently but as good or better than scopes closer to its price range.

One other thing to consider is internal adjustment. Ive found these Vipers have more internal adjustment then a lot of other scopes they directly compete with. I believe the Bushnell Elite 4X16X50 you are looking at only has 50 moa of internal adjustment. The standard Viper series have 65.
